Abstract: The bud differentiation was observed and the changes in content of carbohydrate and protein were conducted with the Centennial Seedless grapevine. Our observations indicated that the bud differentiation of the Centennial Seedless grapevine began in the first ten-day period of May in a greenhouse in Zhejiang Ningbo. The bud differentiation of the moderate vigor canes would stay at the third stage in the same year and get into the fourth stage and the fifth stage between the day of tree activity and the day of sprouting, and finish flower-organ differentiation between the day of budbreak and the day of blossom in the next year. Meanwhile, our study showed that the contents of the soluble sugar, the sucrose , the dissolubility or the starch were different from moderate vigor cane and vigor cane and weak cane. There was an obvious positive relationship between the content of carbohydrate metabolism to the bud differentiation. However, the correlation coefficient was not obvious between the bud differentiation and the protein content. The bud differentiation would be poor if the protein content in cane was either too high or too low.
