Abstract: Tannery wastewater is one of the difficulties in wastewater treatment because of its high concentration of pollutants and complex composition.The sources and characteristics of tannery wastewater and the main treatment methods are introduced in this paper.The development of all kinds of techniques in recent years is summarized.At the same time,it is pointed out that clean production will be the most ideal process and the most important research focus in the future.

Abstract: The intermediate(2,3-epoxypropyl)dimethyl-ammonium chloride was prepared by N,N-Dimethyl dodecylamine and epichlorohydrin as main monomer.Then the target product(2-hydroxy-3-lauryl acyloxypropyl) dodecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride was obtained by reacting the intermediate and the laurie acid.synthesis processes were studied and reaction conditions were optimized.Structure of target product was characterized by infrared spectrum,1H-NMR and 13C-NMR.Sulface activities of the product were measured.They were critical micelle concentration 8.91×10-4mol/L,surface tension 34.12N/m.The results showed that the quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant in condition of steric hindrance had excellent surface activity.

Abstract: The wastewater from tanning process and wastewater containing sulphur were collected and pretreated separately.After the physical treatment of the clear floating liquor and the integration wastewater,the tanning wasterwater frome a tannery was treated with SBR biological chemistry.After six-month stable running,it has been proved when the average concentration of inflow CODCr,BOD,SS,S2-、NH4+ and Cr3+ were 2000~8000 mg/L,331~887 mg/L,300~100 mg/L,100~6000 mg/L,6~3600 mg/L and 0.33~8.77 mg/L,separately,the contents of CODCr,BOD,SS,S2-,NH4+and Cr3+ in the treated water were 100 mg/L,15~25 mg/L,40~60 mg/L,0.5 mg/L,25~50 mg/L and 1.5 mg/L,separately.The water quality of the treated water passed the first Grade of the Comprehensive Effluent Discharge Standard,GB8978-1996 in China.Many advantages have been found in this wasterwater treating process,such as the less covering area and better effect.
