TL;DR: Glycerol-gelatin films were prepared and studied by measuring the water content, mechanical property, moisture retention at different ratio of gelatin and glycerol as discussed by the authors, and the results showed that with the increase of glycerols, the weight of the gelatin films first increased and then decreased, and the tensile strength decreased gradually while the elongation at break increased.
Abstract: Glycerol-gelatin films were prepared and studied by measuring the water content, mechanical property, moisture retention at different ratio of gelatin and glycerol. The results showed that with the increase of glycerol, the water content of glycerol- gelatin films first increased and then decreased, and the tensile strength decreased gradually while the elongation at break increased, but the film moisture retention decreased first and then increased. The film property was the best when the12% gelatin solution was 100 g and the glycerol was 8g, namely, the mass ratio of 1∶1.5.
