TL;DR: The Book of Acts as discussed by the authors describes a dispersion of the Church throughout Judaea and Samaria, followed by a Christian mission to Samaria led by Philip, where the author gives an indication of the outline he intends to follow at Acts i. 8 where the risen Christ tells his apostles, ‘You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses [1] in Jerusalem; [2] in all Judaea, and [3] to the end of the earth.
Abstract: After the account of the earliest Christian community in Jerusalem (chapters i to vii), the Book of Acts tells in viii. 1 f. of a dispersion of the Church throughout Judaea and Samaria, followed by a Christian mission to Samaria, led by Philip. It is frequently held that the author of Acts gives an indication of the outline he intends to follow at Acts i. 8 where the risen Christ tells his apostles, ‘You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses [1] in Jerusalem; [2] in all Judaea and Samaria; and [3] to the end of the earth.’ The first section, the witness in Jerusalem, occupies Acts i–vii; Acts viii and ix deal with the witness in Judaea and Samaria; while with the narrative of Peter and Cornelius in Acts x the emphasis shifts to the Gentile mission for the remainder of the book.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors draw together a number of criticisms of certain uses of this classification and assess its validity and usefulness in New Testament research, and conclude that it is not useful for the development of the earliest Christian Church.
Abstract: In modern study of the development of theology in the earliest Christian church one of the distinctions most frequently drawn is that between its Palestinian and Hellenistic elements. The purpose of the present paper is to draw together a number of criticisms of certain uses of this classification and hence to assess its validity and usefulness in New Testament research.

TL;DR: In the Protestant tradition the Bible has long been regarded as the sole norm for the Church as discussed by the authors, and the question how the problem thus posed is to be tackled and solved has remained a living issue in Germany.
Abstract: In the Protestant tradition the Bible has long been regarded as the sole norm for the Church. It was from this root that, in the seventeenth century, there sprang first of all ‘biblical theology’, from which New Testament theology later branched off at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Radical historical criticism too kept closely to this tradition, and F. C. Baur made such a theology the goal of all his efforts in the study of the New Testament. Since that time the question how the problem thus posed is to be tackled and solved has remained a living issue in Germany. On the other hand, the problem for a long time held no interest for other church traditions, although here too the position has changed within the last two decades. In 1950 Meinertz wrote the first Catholic exposition, while the theme was taken up in France by Bonsirven in 1951, and by Richardson in England in 1958. Popular developments along these lines were to follow.

Abstract: I Corinthians 7 deal with marriage and related topics. The chapter conveniently subdivided: v v. 1-7 contain Paul's discussion on conjugal rights; in v v. 8-9 Paul gives his famous advice to the unmarried and widows: in v v. 10-11 Paul repeats Jesus' command prohibiting divorce: v v. 12-24 concern the problem of the Christian married to a pagan: v v. 25-38 return to the problem of the unmarried; and v v. 39-40 concern the remarriage of widows. Our first problem is the unity of vv. 2538. . Another problem in this chapter is Paul's teaching on divorce. It will be seen that Paul uses the verb ἀφίημι to mean divorce in vv. 11, 12, 13 but χωρίζομαι is found in vv. 10, 11, 15 and this is usually taken to be synonymous with ἀφίημι.Keywords: Christian; divorce; I Corinthians; marriage; Paul's teaching

TL;DR: In this article, Bultmann organizes his entire presentation of the theology of Paul with reference to πίστις, and the question is whether the organization of Paul's theology in such a way does not obscure the christological character of the apostle's thought.
Abstract: Rudolf Bultmann organizes his entire presentation of the theology of Paul with reference to πίστις. His discussion falls into two parts: (a) man prior to the revelation of πίστις and (b) man under πίστις. The diverse conceptuality of Paul thus finds its unity in the interpretation of πλστις, i.e. man in the light of πίστις. The structure of Bultmann's presentation is grounded in the presupposition that all theological understanding ‘has its origin in faith’, and that even man's existence prior to faith ‘is retrospectively seen from the standpoint of faith’. With regard to the theological thought of Paul, however, this very structure subtly pre-empts consideration of a fundamental exegetical question: From what standpoint is ‘faith’ itself interpreted by Paul? The question is whether the organization of Paul's theology in such a way, with reference to πίστις, does not obscure the christological character of the apostle's thought. Bultmann's observation that in the theology of Paul ‘every assertion about Christ is also an assertion about man, and vice versa’, may be valid. What we are concerned about, however, is the ‘vice versa’. It is certainly legitimate to interpret Paul's theology with reference to the apostle's own anthropological emphasis. But in Bultmann's presentation it does not become clear in what way Paul's assertions about man, and in particular Paul's interpretation of ‘faith’, are also christological.5

Abstract: Genau vor einem Jahr hat Professor Robert McL. How Gnostic were the Corinthians?’ You will see that I tried to apply the Messina definition (sc. of Gnosis, Gnosticism, etc.), and argue that the Corinthian situation may be classed under Gnosis, but is still a long way short of Gnosticism.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the analysis of the Ostererzahlung bei Matthaus wird zumeist vorausgesetzt, das die Perikope von den Grabeswachtern (Matt. xxvii.
