TL;DR: The physical constants of the essential oil of the three species were determined and can be used to discriminate the oils of the 3 species of Arnica investigated.
Abstract: Rhizomes and roots of Arnica montana collected in several localities contained 2.7–6.3, respectively 1.8–3.7 %, of essential oil. Roots and rhizomes of Arnica longifolia Eat. contain about 2 % and those of A. chamissonis Less, and A. sachalinensis (Regel) A. Gray about 1 % of essential oil. The physical constants of the essential oils of the three species were determined. They can be used to discriminate the oils of the 3 species of Arnica investigated.
