TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive method for the design of swept wing fuselage combinations intended to cruise efficiently at transonic and supersonic speeds is described, which aims to establish on the wings a flow which is equivalent in a certain sense to that over a two-dimensional wing section in subsonic flow just below its critical (drag-rise) Mach number.
