Abstract: We present general solutions to the Wess-Zumino anomaly equation which incorporate vector mesons as dynamical gauge bosons of the hidden local symmetry in the nonlinear chiral Lagrangian. In contrast to the previous attempts to introduce the vector mesons, our formalism enables one to treat consistently and systematically various processes associated with pseudoscalar mesons (Nambu-Goldsone bosons) and vector mesons (dynamical gauge bosons); it is automatic in this framework that the on-shell amplitudes of photons and pseudoscalar mesons such as π^0 →2γ and γ→3 π which are fixed by the low energy theorems, are not affected no matter how the vector mesons participate in those processes. We further show that the “complete vector meson dominance” hypothesis of photon couplings is invalid in either π^0 →2γ or γ→3π process.

Abstract: In N = 1 conformal supergravity, we completely determine the transformation laws of the most general multiplets with arbitrary external Lorentz indices, and· then define the spinor derivative operations. Unconstrained (general type) multiplets exist for arbitrary external indices while chiral and linear multiplets exist only for purely undotted spinor indices. This comes from the particular fact that the superconformal spinor derivative is covariant only on multiplets satisfying some restrictive conditions. We define also a new class of spinor derivative operators each of which depends on the choice of a multiplet u playing the role of covariantization but is applicable covariantly to any multiplets. New chiral and linear multiplets defined through these spinor derivatives exist for arbitrary external Lorentz indices when ii is a (real or complex) linear multiplet. The connections of these spinor derivatives and constrained multiplets to those in superspace formulations of Poincare supergravities are clarified.

Abstract: Possible critical phenomena associated with chiral symmetry breaking and restoration are studied in the mean field approximation with the use of a QCD-motivated effective Lagrangian. Collective excitations in a system with zero temperature and zero chemical potential are examined extensively: It is shown that (i) there exists a precursory mode in the Wigner phase, which softens as the system approaches the critical point for chiral symmetry breaking, and (ii) the σ-meson mode in the Nambu-Goldstone (NG) phase softens being associated with symmetry restoration. The observabilities of these critical phenomena in experiment such as ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions are discussed. We also calculate the critical temperature T_χ and critical chemical potential µ_χ where chiral symmetry gets restored and we obtain T_χ=164 MeV for (N_c=3, N_f=2)-case without free parameters.

Abstract: , ' The Suzuki-Trotter formula has been used to get the mth approximant to the classical representation of the partition function of the one-dimensional N-spin 5=+ quantum spin systems. The equivalent two-dimensional (NX2m) Ising model with four-spin interactions has been studied in detail by using the numerically exact transfer-matrix method for T;;;;O.05 and m~8. The convergence properties have been examined in two different representations; checkerboard decomposition (CBD) and real-space decomposition (RSD). The spin correlation functions in RSD converge much faster than those in CBD. The limiting m --+ 00 behavior has been estimated from the extrapolation formula of the form: E( m) = E( 00 ) +a/m 2 • The limiting values of the energy derived from the nearest-neighbor correlation agree with: the correct values excellently.

Abstract: The effective ΛN and ΣN interactions are proposed on the basis of the G-matrices calculated for the Nijmegen OBE model D interaction. They are parametrized by three-range Gaussian forms for the sake of convenience in applying them to various hypernuclear problems. The effective two-body LS and antisymmetric LS interactions are also derived. Single particle energies of some typical Λ hypernuclei such as ^5_ΛHe, ^16, 17_ΛO and ^40, 41_ΛCa are nicely reproduced with the use of our ΛN interaction. The ΣN interaction is complex and its imaginary part is related to ΣΛ convension widths. Qualitative features of single particle energies and widths of Σ states are discussed.

Abstract: In the present paper a relativistic theory of gravitation (RTG) is unambiguously constructed on the basis of the special relativity and geometrization principle In this a gravitational field is treated as the Faraday-Maxwell spin-2 and spin-0 physical field possessing energy and momentum The source of a gravitational field is the total conserved energy-momentum tensor of matter and of a gravitational field in Minkowski space In the RTG the conservation laws are strictly filfilled for the energy-momentum and for the angular momentum of matter and a gravitational field The theory explains the whole available set of experiments on gravity By virtue of the geometrization principle, the Riemannian space in our theory is of field origin, since it appears as an effective force space due to the action of a gravitational field on matter The RTG leads to an exceptionally strong prediction: The universe is not closed but just “flat” This suggests that in the universe a “missing mass” should exist in a form of matter

Abstract: (Received May 14, 1984) The response function of a uniformly accelerated detector of the De Witt monopole type coupled to a free scalar field in Minkowski manifold of arbitrary dimension is investigated. The principle of detailed balancing is shown to be obeyed. The response is identical to that of the detector at rest in a thermal bath only for a massless field in two or four dimensional spacetime. For a massive field the identity will result provided the line width of the detector is much larger than a value determined by the mass and the acceleration.
