TL;DR: In this article, the authors present some qualitative data on the meaning of work for young Brazilian managers, using the approach developed by Morin (2002) and show that work is essential at the lives of this group, because work is related to survival.
Abstract: Many researches, since the 1950's, seek to comprehend the meaning of work using different methodolo- gical approaches. Results obtained by the Meaning of Work group International Research Team ((MOW)) in 1987, in different countries, showed that work could assume different conditions from neutrality to centrality in relation to the subject's personal and social identity. The objective of this research is to present some qualitative data on the mea- nings of work for young Brazilian managers, using the approach developed by Morin (2002). Preliminary results of this research show that work is essential at the lives of this group, because work is related to survival. Results also indicate that values such as variations on the nature of the tasks, autonomy, recognition and security are also fundamental for a meaningful work.

TL;DR: A revisao de literatura sobre as instituicoes de abrigo, discutindo sua influencia no desenvolvimento de criancas e adolescentes, can be found in this article.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the initial conclusions from a series of discussions held on field research, taking as a starting point a post-constructionist perspective, and discuss its implications for the research process and for the narrative practices that are used to describe it.
Abstract: The expression ''field research'' is normally used in social psychology to describe a type of research that is carried out outside the laboratory and in the places where everyday action takes place. In this approach, the researcher will go ''to the field'' in order to collect data that will later be analyzed and in order to do this a variety of different methods will be used, both to gather the data and to examine it. This paper reports on the initial conclusions from a series of discussions held on field research, taking as a starting point a post-constructionist perspective. Beginning with the difficulties created by the notion of ''field'' as physically determined and separate, the debate moved on to consider the arguments of Kurt Lewin in favor of a notion of psychological field in which the field is the totality of psychological facts, before settling with the notion of matrix as proposed by Ian Hacking and the wider discussion of materiality. The result was the proposal of the notion of ''theme-field'', in which field is no longer a specific place but refers to the processuality of situated themes. The paper ends by considering the implications of this approach for the research process and for the narrative practices that are used to describe it and to discuss its conclusions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the work relations between recycled garbage pickers working in Goiânia and organizations that recycle such materials and found that workers are exposed to danger, victims of prejudice and stigma, and excluded from some social places.
Abstract: The article presents results of a research that investigated the work relations between recycled garbage pickers working in Goiânia and organizations that recycle such materials. The recycling of urban garbage figure as an emergent activity after environmentalist movements and environment preservation. Although it generates unquestionable environmental advantages, the economic benefits excel. Collecting garbage, to many workers, is the only way of guaranteing survival and inclusion in the excluding market. This research investigated the way garbage pickers understand their work relations, under what conditions perform their functions, and the work practices in garbage picking cooperatives. Ten garbage pickers were interviewed and data analyzed by content analysis. Data showed precarious and informal work relations between garbage pickers and garbage picking cooperatives. The workers are exposed to danger, victims of prejudice and stigma, and excluded from some social places.
