Abstract: University attrition is a complex problem which may include different variables. This article seeks to describe the reasons behind university attrition in a private university in the city of Iquitos. The sample included 88 young people who dropped out the studies at University where the present study was carried out, whose ages range between 18-25 years, from which 42% are women and 58% males. The data from focus group was analyzed, as well as the interviews and the systematization of the existing information. The results show that the institutional characteristics would be the first factor that triggers attrition, followed by the vocational interests, academics, and finally the economic factor.

Abstract: El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el efecto que tiene el metodo basado en proyectos sobre el aprendizaje del curso Estadistica General por parte de los estudiantes de pregrado de una universidad privada, durante el semestre 2010-II. El texto es de tipo descriptivo-explicativo; aplica el metodo ex post facto y el diseno correlacional. Para la recoleccion de datos, se aplico a los estudiantes un cuestionario, que recogio sus opiniones sobre las variables del estudio. En relacion a la muestra, estuvo conformada por cien alumnos de las escuelas profesionales de Ingenieria Ambiental, Contabilidad y Psicologia. Para procesar los datos, se utilizo el Software SPSS, version 19. El trabajo concluye que la aplicacion del Metodo de Proyectos es beneficiosa en el aprendizaje de la estadistica descriptiva, de las probabilidades y de la estadistica inferencial; coincide, por ende, con la hipotesis planteada al inicio: “La aplicacion del metodo basado en proyectos tiene un efecto positivo sobre el aprendizaje del curso Estadistica General por parte de los estudiantes de pregrado de la universidad privada de Lima”.

Abstract: In this paper we present partial results of our ongoing research in a national university in Argentina. We intend to define a specific corpus associated to good teaching connected to training and teaching professional development from a biographical-narrative perspective. We also analyze categories linked to a moral perspective in teaching, a central component in teaching practices that impact the definition of a “memorable teacher” at university level. The research adopts a biographical-narrative approach. We interviewed teachers who had been previously identified as “examples of good teaching” by students. Our paper explains the relevance that the interviewed teacher gave to moral features to their memorable teachers when they were students.

Abstract: Cooperative learning is one of the main medicines in education: the student takes an active role in their own learning process. Methodological issues are very important within university, since the development project of the European Higher Education Area proposes very profound changes in the educational paradigm, changes in the role of teachers and students inside and outside the classroom. To give force to this argument, the implementation of Cooperative Learning Questionnaire Arellano, Navarro and Sosa (2007) was taken to 692 students enrolled in first grade of primary education in 2010-2011. The sample coincides with the universe of freshmen in the Bachelor of Primary Education, comprising 87% of women with a mean age of 19 years, which yielded an index of 0.83 for internal consistency of the instrument. The results point to the importance of strengthening cooperative learning in university classrooms, given that there are few occasions when they can put into play.
