TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the most recent developments in the application of common inorganic protection layers based on conversion coatings for Al alloys is presented, including those formed through anodisation, as potential replacements to the most widely used treatments based on chromate chemistry.
Abstract: Anticorrosive protection of Al alloys still depends heavily on the use of chromates, which are widely and universally employed as chromate conversion coating and chromic acid anodising pretreatments. The replacement of chromate based treatments with more environmentally compliant processes and materials has been identified as a high priority. The aim of this paper is to review the most recent developments in the application of common inorganic protection layers based on conversion coatings for Al alloys. The review lists and discusses the majority of conversion coatings, including those formed through anodisation, on Al alloys as potential replacements to the most widely used treatments based on chromate chemistry.

TL;DR: In this article, the results of SN ratio analysis showed that peak current was a significant factor to affect the all the responses of the machining variables such as current, pulse-on-time and voltage.
Abstract: In the present work, stir casting route is used to fabricate the duplex (α–β) brass plate. The machineabilty behavior of the (α–β) brass is analyzed during Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) using Taguchi method. Experiments were conducted with three machining variables such as current, pulse-on time and voltage. Material removal rates (MRR), Electrode wear rate (EWR) and surface roughness (SR) are chosen as the output parameters. Results of SN ratio analysis showed that peak current was significant factor to affect the all the responses. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to identify the contribution of each parameter.

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of an evaluation of mechanical properties of the samples made of Ti-6Al-4V and VT6 titanium-based alloys and Inconel 718 refractory nickel alloy in various directions are presented.
Abstract: Causes of the appearance of anisotropy of properties in products manufactured according to the technology of selective laser melting of metallic powder materials are investigated. The results of an evaluation of mechanical properties of the samples made of Ti–6Al–4V and VT6 titanium-based alloys and Inconel 718 refractory nickel alloy in various directions are presented. The dependence of their mechanical properties on the orientation of billets relative to the working platform of the installation is presented. An analysis of microslices of the Ti–6Al–4V alloy showed that the direction of the granular structure for a rectangular sample corresponds to the growth direction, while, when manufacturing thin elements of a net construction, other thermal processes flow due to their smaller cross section, which affects the crystallization conditions and microstructure being formed. Grain directions and shapes change depending on the slope angle of the element of the net structure.
