Abstract: Turkey has been going through a major urban transformation for the past decade as a result of the vigorous urban policy of the AKP government. Luxury real estate projects, from gated communities to office towers and shopping malls are mushrooming every day to replace parks, forests, historical sites, beaches, and other shared space. This urban policy has been largely accepted by capitalist groups who prioritized economic growth. Yet, it was criticized by left-wing and environmentalist circles who problematized the displacement of the urban poor, elimination of diversity, and the decline of urban nature as a result. Nevertheless, a critical aspect of this urban renewal policy, namely the dramatic expansion of the boundaries and control of the government at the expense of rival institutions and actors received little attention. This analysis focuses on the AKP government’s legislative interventions that affected the schemes of urban development. The study considers how this urban policy combined capitalist strategies with political centralization, which allowed solidification of government control.

Abstract: Penelitian ini berusaha untuk mendiskripsikan bagaimana kontribusi filantropi di dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan. Lokasi penelitian di Desa Sukoreno Kecamatan Umbulsari Kabupaten Jember. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dan pengumpulan data meggunakan teknik observasi non partisipasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa filantropi yang dilakukan oleh petani jeruk terhadap keluarga miskin baik yang berupa karitas maupun pemberdayaan sera penyediaan sumber-sumber produksi mempunyai kontribusi terhadap peningkatan kesejahteraan. Kata Kunci: Filantropi, karitas, peningkatan kesejahteraan, pemberdayaan

TL;DR: The growth of Pesantren as a traditional Islamic boarding school in the urban area has demonstrated that there have been changes in the pesantren itself as discussed by the authors, and the concept of "Kyai Nasib" was introduced as a specific typology for Islamic leaders who are chosen not because of their relation with the former Kyai nor descendants of Kyai, but because of the piousness, spirituality, managerial knowledge and charisma.
Abstract: The growth of Pesantren as a traditional Islamic boarding school in the urban area has demonstrated that there have been changes in the pesantren itself. Some examples of Pesantren existing till now in urban areas are Pesantren for students Al-Hikam Malang, Pesantren for Students An-Nur Surabaya, and Pesantren Luhur Al-Husna Surabaya. Those three pesantren, at least there are two changes emerging in Pesantren tradition. First, from educational system perspective, not only teaching classical Islamic intellectualism, Pesantren have been also teaching modern sciences to their students which called Santri. Second, from leadership perspective which Pesantren have their unique leader called Kyai, Pesantren recently produce the concept of ‘Kyai Nasib’ as a specific typology for Islamic leaders who are chosen not because of their relation with the former Kyai nor descendants of Kyai, but because of their piousness, spirituality, managerial knowledge and charisma. Abstract: Ada 2 rumusan masalah yang hendak dikaji dalam skripsi ini, yaitu: (1) Bagaimana perjuangan single parent dalam menghidupi keluarga di Dusun Sekarwoyo Desa Sukomulyo Kecamatan Manyar Kabupaten Gresik? (2) Kendala apa yang dihadapi single parent dalam perjuangan menghidupi keluarga di Dusun Sekarwoyo Desa Sukomulyo Kecamatan Manyar Kabupaten Gresik dan bagaimana solusinya? Untuk menjawab pertanyaan diatas secara mendetail, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Metode ini yang akan menggambarkan dan menjelaskan wujud keluarga single parent dan bagaimana perjuangan yang dilakukan single parent dalam menghidupi keluarga. Inilah yang akan dipaparkan dalam skripsi ini. Dari penelitian di lapangan ditemukan bahwa (1) perjuangan yang dilakukan single parent adalah bekerja, membuka usaha sampingan, mendidik dan membesarkan anak, berdoa dan berusaha. (2) kendala yang dihadapi single parent adalah anak nakal tidak nurut sama orang tua, status janda yang menjadi hambatan, masalah ekonomi. Sedangkan solusi dari kendala tersebut adalah bekerja lebih keras lagi, mengatur keuangan dengan baik, berdoa kepada Allah dan melaksanakan sholat. Kata Kunci: Perjuangan Hidup Single Parent, Menghidupi Keluarga.

Abstract: The Gulen Movement (GM) is one of the most dynamic religiously inspired movements in the world today. Constituting a globally active, translocal community with a strong center in Turkey, GM-affiliated actors are primary players in shaping the educational landscapes of countries around the world. The emergence of Gulen-inspired schools (GISs) in urban Tanzania is reflective of the GM’s global reach. Different from other faith-based educational institutions, GISs like Feza Schools in Dar es Salaam do not explicitly promote Islam. However, an Islamic belief and conduct is the base on which actors of the Gulen Movement shape their lives as teachers or administrators in school, as well as the background for founding and supporting them. Hizmet teachers at the Feza Girls’ Secondary and High School (FGSHS) are translating the Islamic background of the GM’s educational engagement into a moral formation of the students that is framed in universal terms. Looking at the teachers’ translocal practices and motivations, it becomes clear that at GISs religion, ethics, and education are closely intertwined.
