TL;DR: The University of Wyoming (UW) Libraries' Online Catalog is described and a survey of UW Online Catalog users is reported on, designed to gauge how library patrons used the online catalog, what they thoug% of its features, and how they felt the catalog could be improved.
Abstract: This document describes the University of Wyoming (UW) Libraries' Online Catalog and reports on a survey of UW Online Catalog users. The UW Online Catalog, developed by Brodart, was introduced to users in October, 1985. The survey, conducted in November, 1986, is an adaptation of the Council on Library Resources Online Catalog Study. It was designed to gauge how library patrons used the online catalog, what they thoug% of its features, and how they felt the catalog could be improved. Data from the UW survey is reported and compared to the data collected in the Council on Library Resources survey of users in 31 U.S. libraries in 1982. The results of the UW survey are consistent with national findings with a few exceptions. The authors are members of the University of Wyoming Libraries Online Catalog Implementation Committee and are public services/reference librarians.

TL;DR: A librarian must try a mixture of approaches and contacts and keep abreast of changes in these countries and acquisition processes in order to be successful for the library.
Abstract: The geographical spread of countries in Asia and Africa is the first obstacle in acquiring books and journals from this region. While a variety of processes and methods are needed to acquire foreign titles, these unique areas generate a series of common problems as well as geographically specific ones which must be overcome to succeed in obtaining library materials. A librarian must try a mixture of approaches and contacts and, in addition, keep abreast of changes in these countries and acquisition processes in order to be successful for the library.
