TL;DR: The website is entirely self-contained as well, so one may use all the functions of the page even when offline – once the page is loaded, nothing more is stored or accessed from server.
Abstract: “engine” (scripting language or program) in use, and these different syntaxes are called “flavors.” The left side bar allows the user to select from the four main flavors of regex (PCRE/PHP, JavaScript, Python, or Go). The selected flavor is also automatically reflected in the Quick Reference on the right. For the default flavor (PCRE/PHP), there is also a debugger that can be run to make explicit every step of how the regex is run in the engine, and where matches are made and fail in the Test string. The default flavor is used in MarcEdit and Google Sheets. Users will obviously want to refer their documentation to pick the right flavor for their application. The left sidebar has tools allowing the user to save regexes in a file or generate code based on the entered regex, test string, and substitution in JavaScript, PHP, Python, C#, and other languages. From the left sidebar, users can also find a “library” of regexes saved by other users. They generally have short descriptions of what they do, and the library is searchable, so users may want to check if their particular need is already met by a regex in the library. The sidebar also has additional settings to refine how the site works and looks. Lastly there is live help available through an IRC channel. Volunteers from the community of users monitor this channel. All functions and features make the website an astonishingly useful tool for anyone who wants to work with regexes. For the novice who may only occasionally want to compose regexes, the site is especially helpful because of the natural language explanations and quick reference. The website is entirely self-contained as well, so one may use all the functions of the page even when offline – once the page is loaded, nothing more is stored or accessed from server. TL;DR: This project revealed the difficulty of assessing ebook collections and their promotion when many platforms are involved and revealed the importance of collocated displays in promoting awareness of ebook collections.
Abstract: Library collections have become fractured as increased acquisition of ebooks has created hybrid print and digital collections. These developments have implications for user awareness of the most current items in the collection and their ability to understand their relationship to print collections, due to ebooks’ absence in the physical library space. At the William M. White Business Library at the University of Colorado, Boulder, collocated displays are deployed in the print stacks to promote awareness of ebook collections and enable browsing and serendipitous discovery. This project revealed the difficulty of assessing ebook collections and their promotion when many platforms are involved.
