Abstract: The purpose of this study was to reflect theoretically on the theme of health education and how it interfaces with health promotion. It consists of a theoretical-reflexive study aimed at comparing these practices to the concepts elaborated in the Letter of Ottawa, the pedagogy of liberation of Paulo Freire, empowerment and culture, here comprehended as key elements guiding the activity of the nurse in health education in actions performed by health services. In order to take this reflexive path, the authors analyzed the interrelationships of these theoretical interfaces and their approaches to health promotion practices. From this presented theoretical framework, it is possible to reflect on the possibilities of extending care, based on the premise that all moments comprising interaction with patients of health services must be considered an opportunity to develop health education actions, considering the knowledge of nurses characterized as social actors who are responsible for the events that take place in the health scenario. TL;DR: In this article, the influence of two health care models on the workloads of health professionals was discussed, and the authors concluded that the increase in workloads in the family health model was affected by gaps between what was prescribed and performed, while in the traditional model this was due to fact that the health care model is based on biomedicine.
Abstract: This study discusses the influence of two health care models on the workloads of health professionals. This qualitative study was conducted with Family Health teams and traditional teams working in southern Brazil. Focus groups, interviews, and documentary study were used to obtain data, which were analyzed combining Thematic Content Analysis with the features of the AtlasTi software. In both models, it was evident that the problems in the organization and management of health care, excessive demand and innefective problem-solving are the main sources of increased workloads while affinity with the health care model and teamwork were mentioned as sources of workloads reduction. We conclude that the increase in workloads in Family Health model was affected by gaps between what was prescribed and performed, while in the traditional model this was due to fact that the health care model is based on biomedicine. Abstract: The objective of this qualitative, descriptive and explanatory study was to identify the experience of a multidisciplinary team in providing hospice care in the hospital setting. The study included six members of a multidisciplinary health team providing palliative care in a university hospital in the South of Brazil. The results indicate that when professionals began providing care to terminal patients, they experienced frustration and a sense of helplessness. The experience, however, enabled them to find new meanings for care delivery, coming to understand death as a natural event of life, and realizing the importance of ensuring quality of life and providing comfort to patients. The participants reported the need to strengthen communication, teamwork, and to create opportunities to discuss terminality. Thus, hospital care should meet the needs of patients receiving hospice care and those of their families, connecting and promoting actions to ensure patients have their suffering relieved and can survive with dignity. TL;DR: The purpose of this study was to understand user embracement as a good practice for use in primary health care, according to the perceptions of administrators, health professionals and patients, considering the dimensions of dialogue, attitude and reorganization of health services.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to understand user embracement as a good practice for use in primary health care, according to the perceptions of administrators, health professionals and patients, considering the dimensions of dialogue, attitude and reorganization of health services. It consists of a descriptive-analytical investigation, of a qualitative nature. The Grounded Theory was used as the theoretical-methodological referential. Data were obtained through interviews performed with seven coordinators, ten professionals and twelve patients of the Health Centers of Florianopolis-SC. Under the perspective of good practices, user embracement becomes a point of intersection between different subjects and primary health care practices, unfolding the dimensions of embracement- dialogue, embracement-attitude and embracement-reorganization of services. User embracement triggers transformations in the working process, in the relationships established in the care spaces and in the organizational scope of the services. The interconnection of this triad reconfigures and changes the actions in primary health care and contributes to the consolidation of this health care model. DESCRIPTORS: User embracement. Abstract: The objective was to verify the self-efficacy of new mothers before and after an educational intervention. We opted for a quantitative study involving 100 new mothers of a public maternity hospital in Fortaleza-CE, Brazil. Before and after the application of the serial album "I can breastfeed my child", interviews were performed using two forms: the first was used to collect identification data of the participants and the second was the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale Short Form. We found an increase in scores on the scale after the educational intervention, particularly in mothers with specific characteristics, with a statistically significant association between the following variables: age between 20 and 29 years; married/consensual union; from five to seven household members; engaged in paid work outside the home; and family income from two to eight minimum wages. We concluded that the educational intervention implemented with women who had just given birth was effective in increasing maternal breastfeeding self-efficacy, which may result in improving breastfeeding rates. Abstract: This is a qualitative study aimed to learn the signs and symptoms of the burnout syndrome among undergraduate nursing students, by means of semi-structured interviews with 24 nursing undergraduates from a public university in the south of Brazil. The discursive textual analysis was used and defined three categories, related to the dimensions of the burnout syndrome in students: emotional exhaustion, disbelief and low professional efficacy. The specificities of the situations experienced by students are associated with emotional exhaustion, contributing to the detachment from their studies and compromising their sense of professional efficacy. The worn-out signs, detachment from studies and inefficacy mentioned by the students demand appropriate attention and consideration from higher education institutions, provided with the planning and implementation of actions to minimize the stress caused by the identified situations, which seem to be associated with the development of the burnout dimensions among students. Abstract: This study aimed to unveil the elements of humanized care present in the encounter between the nurse, the family and the child with cancer, to identify these nurses' perceptions regarding the humanization of the care, and ascertain in which situations the nurse perceives that the humanization is anchored in the care. It is an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Watson's Theory of Human Caring was used as a theoretical framework. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews held with nine nurses from a public hospital specialized in pediatric oncology in Sao Paulo. The results indicated the phenomenon "Unveiling humanized care given to the child with cancer and her family". The theoretical elements emerged from the descriptions of clinical events or situations presented by the nurses. The data permitted reflection on possibilities for construction of the humanistic interpersonal process in the care environment in pediatric oncology and on advances and limitations relating to the applicability of this framework in practice.
