TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the factors influencing the adoption of internet banking services in Mauritius by combining various predetermined constructs such as perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, subjective norms, attitudes, behavioural intentions, security and trust aspects, the level of awareness on internet banking service and demographic variables such as age, income, gender and education.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors influencing the adoption of internet banking services in Mauritius Drawing from the technology acceptance model, theory of reasoned action, theory of planned behaviour and the extensive literature on demographic profiling of internet banking users, trust and security aspects associated with adoption rate of internet banking, this paper combines various predetermined constructs in one model The different constructs such as perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, subjective norms, attitudes, behavioural intentions, security and trust aspects, the level of awareness on internet banking services and demographic variables such as age, income, gender and education into one integrated framework Hence, the paper will deepen understanding of the specific factors underpinning the adoption of internet banking in Mauritius Design/methodology/approach – This paper reports upon the empirical findings of the customer survey on the various factors

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify specific project practices impeding the reduction of waste in construction projects as well as uncovering potential waste solutions throughout the project delivery process, and find that design factors remain the major cause of impediments to waste reduction to landfill.
Abstract: Purpose – The UK construction industry produces up to one third of all waste to landfill. This study aims to identify specific project practices impeding the reduction of waste in construction projects as well as uncovering potential waste solutions throughout the project delivery process. The rationale being that for such a drastic reduction in waste to landfill, holistic and extensive measures would be required.Design/methodology/approach – A two‐way methodological approach was used. This comprised qualitative unstructured interviews and a quantitative questionnaire survey of three major stakeholders in the UK construction industry: clients, architects and contractors.Findings – Design factors remain the major cause of impediments to waste reduction to landfill. Critical impediments include clients making waste prevention a top priority in projects, overly complex designs, waste taking a low priority compared to project time and costs, lack of concerns by designers for buildability, among others. TL;DR: An in-depth and critical review of the literature and theories on knowledge, knowledge management (KM) as well as the concepts and approaches relating to organizational learning and the knowledge-based economy are provided.
Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide an in-depth and critical review of the literature and theories on knowledge, knowledge management (KM) as well as the concepts and approaches relating to organizational learning and the knowledge-based economy. The paper also provides more details and definitions of various issues around gamification. Design/methodology/approach Several sources have been reviewed and consulted including various mainstream referred journals focusing on KM and gamification as well as books, online databases, governmental reports, and statistics, etc. Findings Game-based learning (GBL) in business must align with the learning goals and outcomes of training and development, and clearly demonstrate that learning can be evaluated and achieved. Serious game experiences drive personal change and transformation by generating an attitude of acceptance of the challenge, motivation to achieve, and constant innovation through participant commitments. Simulations push the participant into experiencing an immersive environment. Finally, gamification, as a collection of techniques, may be applied to the educational and workplace activities, or used as a wrapper for GBL, serious games, and simulations. Research limitations/implications We are on a unique and unusual path to revitalizing and reinvigorating the educational experience. This new path is not about throwing a LMS at faculty and hoping it sticks. This new path is about creating faculty who are mentors, coaches, and life-long learners who understand the research implications of applying game-based learning in the classroom, as well as the workforce. Practical implications Higher educational teaching as well as corporate LTD (Learning, Training, and Development) are being significantly disrupted. The innovation taking place in teaching requires more experiential learning, the kind of learning stimulated with serious games, simulations, immersive learning environments, and gamification. This issue will help to outline disruptive approaches that work. Originality/value This paper provides a review of the emerging trends and cases where gamification, simulations, serious games, immersive learning environments, virtual reality, and augmented reality are applied to the deployment of knowledge-based initiatives.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors empirically examined the long run and causal relationship between energy consumption, carbon emissions and economic growth in India over the period 1971-2009 within multivariate framework.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the long run and causal relationship between energy consumption, carbon emissions and economic growth in India over the period 1971-2009 within multivariate framework. Design/methodology/approach – The study uses the Johansen cointegration test to examine the possible long-run equilibrium relationship followed by Granger causality test based on vector error correction model to explore short- and long-run causality between energy consumption, carbon emissions and economic growth in India. Findings – Cointegration result indicates the long-run equilibrium relationship between economic growth, energy consumption and carbon emissions. Further causality results suggest unidirectional causality running from energy consumption and carbon emissions to economic growth in long run, energy consumption to carbon emissions, carbon emissions to economic growth and economic growth to energy consumption in short run. Practical implications – There is urgent ne...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an integrated model that combines technology, innovative and environmental factors altogether in order to understand customer's intention to adopt, and intention to recommend internet banking in social networks.
Abstract: The increasing innovation and urgent need of up-to-date and convenient information systems have gained high importance in financial sector Several banks have deployed internet banking in order to reduce cost while improving customer services Therefore, the growth of internet banking is limited and in many cases fallen short of expectations The purpose of this paper is to develop an integrated model that combines technology, innovative and environmental factors altogether in order to understand customer’s intention to adopt, and intention to recommend internet banking in social networks,In all, 398 valid responses were collected from customers of commercial banks, using convenience sampling approach Data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling,The findings show that integrated model has good explanatory power (783 percent) to predict customer’s intention to adopt internet banking Findings also revealed that the interaction effect of gamification between user’s intention to adopt and user’s intention to recommend internet banking will be stronger when gamification effect is higher Importance performance matrix analysis (IPMA) revealed that innovativeness and perceived technology security were the most important factors in order to determine user’s intention with regard to adoption of internet banking,For policy-makers, it is suggested that they should focus on innovative characteristics and must ensure the possible environment for carrying out internet banking transaction Advertising about new technology with adequate information may produce positive influence on user’s intention Enjoyable internet banking website with reward system will help to improve user’s intention to adopt and intention to recommend internet banking with others, thus developers should introduce game features on internet banking website,This study provides basis for further refinement of individual technology acceptance models and enrich the e-commerce literature adding innovative and game elements in interne banking adoption context Additionally, the proposed model makes an important contribution in emerging e-commerce literature especially in the context of innovative and gamified internet banking
