TL;DR: It is shown that the value of m in the schemes proposed in this paper is not restricted by internal instabilities.
Abstract: Explicit, m-stage Runge-Kutta methods are derived for which the maximal stable integration step per right hand side evaluation is proportional to m when applied to semi-discrete parabolic initial-boundary value problems. The internal stability behaviour of these methods is compared with that of similar Runge-Kutta methods proposed in the literature. Both by analysis and by numerical experiments we show that the value of m in the schemes proposed in this paper is not restricted by internal instabilities.

TL;DR: In this paper, a constrained minimum of a vector valued function is defined, in terms of an ordering cone, leading to a vector analog of the Kuhn-Tucker theorem, and to a duality theorem where the dual problem has a vector-valued objective function, and weak duality is defined by appropriate cone orderings.
Abstract: A constrained minimum of a vector valued function is defined, in terms of an ordering cone. The definition chosen leads to a vector analog of the Kuhn-Tucker theorem, and to a duality theorem where the dual problem has a vector valued objective function, and weak duality is defined by appropriate cone orderings. Also proved are a vector valued converse duality theorem, and a vector quasiduality theorem which does not require convexity. The results are related to perturbations of the objective function in a minimization problem.

TL;DR: In this paper, the three-dimensional problem of diffraction of elastic waves by a rectangular crack in an infinite elastic medium is investigated, and the Fourier transform technique is used to reduce the problem to a solution of two simultaneous integral equations.
Abstract: The three-dimensional problem of diffraction of elastic waves by a rectangular crack in an infinite elastic medium is investigated in this paper. The Fourier transform technique is used to reduce the problem to a solution of two simultaneous integral equations. To solve these equations, the crack surface displacement is expanded in a function with a double series. The unknown coefficients accompanied in that series are calculated with the aid of the Schmidt method. The dynamic stress intensity factors and the crack surface displacement are numerically computed.

TL;DR: By including the length, shape and elastic moduli as additional parameters the problem of elastic stability acquires a new formulation permitting us to establish stability criteria independent of the usual manipulation of the Rayleigh quotient, or of Rayleigh-Ritz, or Galerkin schemes.
Abstract: By including the length, shape and elastic moduli as additional parameters the problem of elastic stability acquires a new formulation permitting us to establish stability criteria independent of the usual manipulation of the Rayleigh quotient, or of the Rayleigh-Ritz, or Galerkin schemes. Moreover, this technique permits us to establish two-sided estimates concerning the values of critical loads in a manner much simpler than the Weinstein or Fichera procedures.

TL;DR: In this paper, the singularity of the lift distribution in the neighbourhood of the wing tips is examined in detail using trigonometric series expressions of Lame polynomial functions.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the exact theoretical treatment of the three-dimensional lifting surface theory as treated in Krienes [9]. The method treated in this paper includes a new technique for the numerical approach, and the singularity of the lift distribution in the neighbourhood of the wing tips is examined in detail. To use the trigonometric series expressions of Lame polynomial functions makes the numerical calculations easy and makes the accuracy improved. These expressions are available for the study of the singularity of the lift distribution near the wing tips.

TL;DR: In this paper, the problems of Stokes flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid between corrugated plates are considered and an exact solution up to O(ϵ2) is developed leading to an expression for the pressure drop enhancement as a function of the statistics of the corrugations.
Abstract: The problems of Stokes flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid between corrugated plates are considered. The corrugations are of small amplitude ϵ and are represented by stationary random functions. An exact solution (up to O(ϵ2)) is developed leading to an expression for the pressure drop enhancement as a function of the statistics of the corrugations. Simplifications of this expression in the case of sinuisoidal and slowly-varying corrugations are discussed.

TL;DR: The fact that the infinitesimal deformability of exceptional bar linkages or polyhedra is invariant under projective transformations is proved in a natural way by means of adequate velocity diagrams as discussed by the authors.
The fact that the infinitesimal deformability of exceptional bar linkages or polyhedra is invariant under projective transformations is proved in a natural way by means of adequate velocity diagrams. Velocity transformations which are compatible with the affinity or homography applied to a shaky structure are presented in explicit form.

TL;DR: In this paper, necessary optimality conditions are derived for processes governed by integral equations of Volterra or Fredholm types in Banach spaces, and an optimization of parameters is considered.
By means of an abstract model of L. Bittner necessary optimality conditions are derived for processes governed by integral equations of Volterra or Fredholm types in Banach spaces. An optimization of parameters is considered. In order to formulate maximum principles we represent the solution of an integral equation by means of a resolvent operator. Existence and properties of resolvent operators for integral equations in Banach spaces are discussed.
