This chapter analyzes the effects of some valumetric distortions, which can often be modeled as combinations of additive noise, amplitude changes, linear filtering, and/or quantization to occur to photographs, music, and video.
Abstract
Publisher Summary The robustness of a watermarking method is a measure of the ability of the watermark to survive legitimate and everyday usage of the content. This chapter presents general methods for achieving high robustness along with specific methods for handling some of the most common types of processing. In designing a robust watermark, it is important to identify the specific processes that are likely to occur between embedding and detection. Robustness to a given process often comes at some expense in computational cost, data payload, fidelity, or even the robustness of some other process. It is, therefore, wise to ignore those processes that are unlikely in a given application. Further, this chapter analyzes the effects of some valumetric distortions (that is, distortions that change the values of individual pixels or audio samples). Common valumetric distortions that occur to photographs, music, and video can often be modeled as combinations of additive noise, amplitude changes, linear filtering, and/or quantization. Temporal and geometric distortions are also discussed such as delay, translation, rotation, and scaling.

Robust embedding of visual watermarks using discrete wavelet transform and singular value decomposition

TL;DR: A hybrid nonblind scheme based on DWT and singular value decomposition (SVD) is presented, and it is shown that it is considerably more robust and reliable than a pure SVD-based scheme.

Robust image watermarking using local invariant features

TL;DR: The simulation results support the contention that the proposed watermarking method is robust against geometric distortion attacks as well as signal-processing attacks.

DWT-SVD and DCT based robust and blind watermarking scheme for copyright protection

TL;DR: The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed DWT-SVD and DCT with Arnold Cat Map encryption based robust and blind watermarking scheme is robust, imperceptible and secure to several attacks and common signal processing operations.

Digital fragile watermarking scheme for authentication of JPEG images

TL;DR: A fragile watermarking scheme is proposed to implicitly watermark all the coefficients by registering the zero-valued coefficients with a key-generated binary sequence to create the watermark and involving the unwatermarkable coefficients during the embedding process of the embeddable ones.

Digital Watermarking Robust to Geometric Distortions

TL;DR: The proposed method using image moment normalization and a correlation peak position modulation (CPPM) to recover geometric distortions is suitable for public watermarking applications, where the original image is not available for watermark extraction.
