Hepatoprotective activity of Amaranthus spinosus in experimental animals

TL;DR: The hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity of 50% ethanolic extract of whole plant of Amaranthus spinosus was evaluated against carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic damage in rats and suggests that possible mechanism of this activity may be due to the presence of flavonoids and phenolics compound in the ASE.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effects of Nigella sativa oil and thymoquinone against toxicity induced by the anticancer drug cyclophosphamide.

TL;DR: Results suggest that administration of NSO or TQ can lower CTX-induced toxicity as shown by an up-regulation of antioxidant mechanisms, indicating a potential clinical application for these agents to minimise the toxic effects of treatment with anticancer drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deltamethrin-induced oxidative stress and biochemical changes in tissues and blood of catfish ( Clarias gariepinus ): antioxidant defense and role of alpha-tocopherol

TL;DR: It could be concluded that deltamethrin is highly toxic to catfish even in very low concentration (0.75 μg/l) and fish antioxidants and oxidative stress could be used as biomarkers for aquatic pollution, thus helping in the diagnosis of pollution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antioxidants and radical scavenging properties of vegetable extracts in rats fed aflatoxin-contaminated diet.

TL;DR: In this article, the protection role of garlic, cabbage, and onion extracts against the toxic effects of aflatoxin was evaluated in Sprague-Dawley rats, and it was found that garlic extract alone had insignificant effects on all parameters tested, whereas cotreatment with aflat toxin and extracts resulted in a significant improvement in all parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of rutin treatment on biochemical alterations in experimental diabetes.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of rutin, through biochemical parameters, on experimental streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in rats was evaluated. But, the effect was limited to male Wistar rats.
