Viper venom-induced inflammation and inhibition of free radical formation by pure compound (2-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzoic acid) isolated and purified from anantamul (Hemidesmus indicus R.Br) root extract
M.I. Alam,Aparna Gomes +1 more
TL;DR: The present investigation explored the possible venom neutralizing effect of a pure compound isolated and purified from the methanolic root extract of Hemidesmus indicus R.Rr.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidative stress in the development of liver cirrhosis: a comparison of two different experimental models.
Sathish Kumar Natarajan,Simmy Thomas,Prabhu Ramamoorthy,Jayasree Basivireddy,Anna B. Pulimood,Anup Ramachandran,Kunissery A. Balasubramanian +6 more
TL;DR: This study compares oxidative stress in the liver induced by these compounds at different stages of cirrhosis development in rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diphenyl diselenide reverses cadmium-induced oxidative damage on mice tissues.
Francielli Weber Santos,Gilson Zeni,João Rocha,Simone Nardin Weis,Juliana M. Fachinetto,Alexandre M. Favero,Cristina W. Nogueira +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the administration of an antioxidant (PhSe)2, during cadmium intoxication may provide beneficial effects by reducing oxidative stress in tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time course of cadmium-induced ultrastructural changes in rat liver
TL;DR: The results indicate that Cd interferes with hepatic protein synthesis early after injection of a large dose, and that further degenerative changes occur later and possibly in response to protein inhibition.

Hepatoprotective activity of Ficus carica Linn. leaf extract against carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in rats
TL;DR: The methanol extract of the leaves of Ficus carica Linn was evaluated for hepatoprotective activity in rats with liver damage induced by carbon tetrachloride and exhibited a significant protective effect by lowering the serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotinase, total serum bilirubin, and malondialdehyde equivalent, an index of lipid peroxidation of the liver.
