Abstract
In order to reduce energy consumption of Wireless Sensor Network nodes, a novel compression algorithm based on the principle of Adaptive Huffman Code is proposed in the paper for the collected temperature data in real environment by the sensor nodes are continuous and slow changing. The algorithm is simple, easy to implement, and suitable for application in wireless sensor networks. To some extent, it can achieve loss less compression with required accuracy by making the full use of the difference value of the data. At the end of the paper an experiment is carried out and the result shows the algorithm is practical.
