TL;DR: The use of pacifiers by children has led to uncle debates from the biological point of view as mentioned in this paper, however, the pacifier's representation as a social object, product of culture, should also be analyzed.
Abstract: Introduction: A cultural object or phenomenon expresses the historical experience of several previous generations. The use of pacifiers by children has led to uncle debates from the biological point of view. However, the pacifier’s representation as a social object, product of culture, should also be analyzed. Objective: to verify aspects related to the cultural appropriation in the studies analyzing pacifier sucking habits. Method: The study consulted databases MEDLINE, LILACS, SciELO, Cochrane Library, and Portal CAPES, and selected articles issued between 2002 and 2011. Results: Twentysix (26) studies on pacifier sucking habits regarding cultural aspects have been found. The use of the pacifier has been very frequent, even when mothers had been advised by health care professionals not to offer pacifiers to infants. Conclusion: The results of the studies investigated highlighted the cultural appropriation process when the use of the pacifier by children is analyzed.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to reflect, in the theoretical scope, about the Vygotsky’s socio-historical constructivism and the contributions from this Russian researcher to build the nursing knowledge. The Vygotskian approach has as its philosophical, epistemological and methodological purposes, the principles of the historical materialism, it emphasizes the social and cultural context in the working process, also in the use of instruments and in the dialectical interaction between human beings and environment. We understand that the ideas preconized by Vygotsky can represent an alternative method to the practical and theoretical studies, specially, as the subjective dimension of the working process near by the nursing staff. TL;DR: In this article, the intersubjective process of meaning negotiation, through microgenetic analysis of Role-playing Game sessions, was studied. But they departed from the supposition that the analysis of I-other interactions, during that game, could put in evidence relevant aspects for the comprehension of the relation between intersubjectivity and otherness in interpersonal contexts.
Abstract: This article focuses on the intersubjective process of meaning negotiation, through microgenetic analysis of Role-Playing Game sessions. We departed from the supposition that the analysis of I-other interactions, during that game, could put in evidence relevant aspects for the comprehension of the relation between intersubjectivity and otherness in interpersonal contexts. The results of the microgenetic analysis of the dialogues among the players showed the participation of important psychological processes in human development. In those processes, moments of tension and disquiet - typical of otherness relationships - were alternated with moments of convergence and sharing about the topics of the dialogue, as well as about the relational positions of the interlocutors.

TL;DR: For instance, the authors found that parents attributed traditional roles to the maternal and paternal figure, in the sense of mothers were held responsible for the education and care of children and fathers, responsible for exercising authority.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that deaf children make explicit who they are and explain what issue is being played, by setting the roles and the social rules that they will play.
Abstract: Based on the assumptions of historical-cultural perspective of human development, especially Lev Seminovich Vigotski contributions, this paper debates the usages of language resources by preschool aged deaf children in the configuration of symbolic roles exchanged on play. Two investigative episodes recorded on video in a toy-library were used as empirical material. The analysis highlights the process of appropriation of symbolic roles, in which words (LIBRAS) and body (gestures) articulate themselves in order to give meaning to make-believe. In this sense, it is in the play choreography that deaf children make explicit who they are and explain what issue is being played, by setting the roles and the social rules that they will play. As a conceptual conclusion, one may say that body is a fundamental linguistic component in the constitution of senses and meanings produced in playful activity, promoting possibilities of subjective expression to the child who plays.
