II—The Hydroid Zoophytes collected by the British Antarctic Expedition of Sir Ernest Shackleton, 1908

James Ritchie
TL;DR: In this paper, the Nimrod collected hydroid zoophytes at eleven different stations within the Antarctic Circle, including three definite areas of Victoria Land: M'Murdo Sound to the west and north-west of Cape Royds, the open waters of the Sound southwards (Cape Royds) southwards, and the Bay, a small indentation in the land to the east of C. Royds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence of reverse development in Leptomedusae (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa): the case of Laodicea undulata (Forbes and Goodsir 1851)

TL;DR: The life cycle of L. undulata from the Mediterranean Sea is re-described, linking previously uncoupled descriptions of either the polyp or the early medusa stages to the standard developmental programme towards colony morphogenesis and budding of secondary medusae.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differences in the Growth, Form and Life History of Plumularia setacea (Ellis and Solander) (Hydrozoa: Plumulariidae) in Two Contrasting Habitats

TL;DR: The modular construction of P. setacea, contrary to previous assumptions on hydroid biology, does not confer the potential for an infinite growth and life-span, but endows the Potential for variable growth and form that enables P.setacea to survive, as opportunists, in these different habitats.
