Abstract: This book proposes an analytical framework for the discussion of adult learning and education policies. This framework is applied to the EU policies for the adult education and training sector as well as to the proposals presented by UNESCO since the 1970s with respect to lifelong education and lifelong learning. Lifelong learning and education is a key concept for the development of adult education as an area of practice and theoretical consideration. In recent decades, meanwhile, the idea that education and learning last for the length and breadth of life is central to the guidance of various international organisations and to the public policies of many countries. Lifelong learning is currently widely accepted in terms of its benefits and so the meanings it can contain are rarely questioned. This book proposes three models for analysing public adult education policies, the democratic-emancipatory model, the modernisation and state control model, and the human resources management model. The models guide the critical discussion on the EU policies for the adult education and training sector. This analysis also contains references to national adult education policies. The book further describes the proposals presented by UNESCO since the 1970s with respect to lifelong education and lifelong learning. The underlying purpose of this approach is to identify and interpret other meanings which the idea may contain today. This option is intended to help students and other people who may be interested in this topic to question ways of looking at a priority issue in contemporary public policies. Abstract: The aim of this research is analyze dissertations citations patterns uphold between 1999 and 2007 in the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Administração of Escola de Administração at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, and built up indicators to support library`s collection development decision-making. In doing so, we analyzed the kind of bibliographic materials used, his age, the main journals, and the references language. The result allows optimize resources` allocation and investment in informational material, establish retrospective collection storage guidelines, determining the core collection journals composition, indicate what language bibliographical materials should be selected in future acquisitions, and prepare for collection cuts due to possible library budget reductions.

Abstract: Este trabalho visa tratar do conhecimento dos alunos dos 1o e ultimos periodos das ciencias agrarias da UFRPE-UAG sobre esses sistemas e qual o conceito que eles tem destes sistemas, como metodologia foi utilizado a aplicacao de questionarios com alunos de Zootecnia, Medicina Veterinaria e Agronomia, no qual se avaliou os conceitos e conhecimentos sobre a agroecologia e os sistemas agrosilvipastoris. As analises destes questionarios geraram dados qualitativos e quantitativos. Como principais resultados, os alunos de medicina veterinaria e zootecnia dos ultimos periodos se sobressairam em relacao aos alunos dos primerios periodos dos receptivos cursos, ja os alunos de agronomia do ultimo periodo apesar de 78% afirmarem que conhecem a agroecologia, no decorrer do questionario ficou nitido que eles nao tem conhecimento sobre a area.

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate nurses' perception of the process of the teaching-learning of leadership during the undergraduate nursing course. The research, with a qualitative approach and of the descriptive type, adopted the case study as its investigative strategy. 25 nurses working in three general hospitals in the city of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil participated in the study. The information was collected between May and December of 2010. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken for the data collection. The data was analyzed using Minayo's operative proposal. The main results show that the pedagogical practices adopted by the lecturers resemble the characteristics of the banking concept of education, mentioned by Paulo Freire. Adherence to transversal teaching of leadership, and continuous education, are strategies which facilitate the training of nurse-leaders. It is relevant to rethink the process of the teaching-learning of leadership, so as to contribute to the development of this professional competence. DESCRIPTORS: Nursing. Leadership.
