TLDR
In this paper, the effect of initial placement conditions and flooding stress (vertical compressive stress at flooding) on the collapse potential of remoulded loess was presented. But the results were limited.Abstract:
This paper presents the effect of initial placement conditions and flooding stress (vertical compressive stress at flooding) on the collapse potential of remoulded loess. Compacted specimens of loess were tested in a one-dimensional consolidometer to study the collapse behaviour. Initial water content, dry unit weight and flooding stress were varied. Collapse potential was found to be dependent on initial water content, initial dry unit weight and flooding stress. Partial collapse was studied by allowing measured increments of water into the specimens.read more

Collapsibility, composition, and microfabric of the coastal zone loess around the Bohai Sea, China
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the physical index, mineralogical characteristics and collapse potential of coastal loess, and the effect of fine silt particles (particle size 5-10μm, 6.64-7.64φ) on the collapse process.

Microstructural effects on the wetting-induced collapse in compacted loess
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of soil microstructure on volume change and wetting-induced collapse of a compacted loess from Xi'an, China were evaluated using one-dimensional (1D) compression tests with Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP) tests and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis.

An experimental investigation of the collapse behaviour of an unsaturated compacted soil along the static compaction curves
TL;DR: In this article, a new static compaction testing procedure is developed for establishing static contours of unsaturated compacted soils both in terms of applied compaction pressure and compaction energy.

Review of collapsing soils
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that most of the collapse occurs at optimum clay content (10% in one case) and moisture content (between 13% and 39%) and that the amount and rate of collapse is a function of grain shape, grain size, existing moisture content, kinds and amounts of clay present, void ratio, adsorbed ions, etc.
