TL;DR: Palavras-CHAVE as mentioned in this paper discusses the extermination of the physically and mentally disabled in Nazi Germany, carried out through the compulsory sterilization and euthanasia programs directed to the so-called "worthless lives".
ABSTRACT The author discusses the extermination of the physically and mentally disabled in Nazi Germany, carried out through the compulsory sterilization and euthanasia programs directed to the so-called “worthless lives”. He claims that such programs were legalized with the connivance of physicians and jurists, who justified extermination on economic and scientific grounds, as the German eugenic policy and the annihilation of those human beings thought of as a “burden” to society. He believes such unreasonable deeds show that the unethical use of science may constitute an attack on both human dignity and the right to life. KEYWORDS Human rights; German Law for the Prevention of Hereditary Deseases; euthanasia program; World War II; physically, mentally – disabled; social darwinism; science; ethics.

Abstract: Historians disagree about whether Nazis embraced Darwinian evolution. By examining Hitler's ideology, the official biology curriculum, the writings of Nazi anthropologists, and Nazi periodicals, we find that Nazi racial theorists did indeed embrace human and racial evolution. They not only taught that humans had evolved from primates, but they believed the Aryan or Nordic race had evolved to a higher level than other races because of the harsh climatic conditions that influenced natural selection. They also claimed that Darwinism underpinned specific elements of Nazi racial ideology, including racial inequality, the necessity of the racial struggle for existence, and collectivism.

TL;DR: The stem-tree of human descent and the racial theories that accompany it have been the focus of several recent books—histories arguing that Haeckel had a unique position in the rise of Nazi biology during the first part of the twentieth century.
Abstract: Figure 1: Haeckel’s stem-tree of the nine human species, with their varieties; the ape-man at the source. From his Naturliche Schopfungsgeschichte, 1868. Ernst Haeckel’s popular book Naturliche Schopfungsgeschichte (Natural history of creation, 1868) represents human species in a hierarchy, from lowest (Papuan and Hottentot) to highest (Caucasian, including the Indo-German and Semitic races). His stem-tree (see fig. 1) of human descent and the racial theories that accompany it have been the focus of several recent books—histories arguing that Haeckel had a unique position in the rise of Nazi biology during the first part of the twentieth century. In 1971, Daniel Gasman brought the initial bill of particulars; he portrayed Haeckel as having specific responsibility for Nazi
