TLDR
The results showed the presence of contaminants along the studied river and the ability of C. largillierti to bioaccumulate them, and suggest this species as an useful bioindicator of aquatic pollution.

Effects of Bisphenol A on the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and the clam Corbicula fluminea.

TL;DR: Treatment of bivalves of the M + W treatment were the most affected, indicating that the little amount of BPA bioaccumulated by microalgae could increase the damage, and fitness reduction and oxidative damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative acute toxicity of benzophenone derivatives and bisphenol analogues in the Asian clam Corbicula fluminea

TL;DR: BP-3 and BPA were the most toxic compounds showing significant differences in all the parameters analysed at the highest concentrations assayed, however, clams exposed to BPS showed only significant alterations in filtration parameters and in GR activity, in the two highest concentrations tested, indicating that this compound was the least toxic to clams.
Journal ArticleDOI

What does the freshwater clam, Corbicula largillierti, have to tell us about chlorothalonil effects?

TL;DR: At the highest CLT concentration, the most significant changes were observed in enzymatic activity, lipid peroxidation and in digestive gland morphometry, and most of the biomarkers assessed showed significant responses under CLT exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Responses of Asian clams (Corbicula fluminea) to low concentration cadmium stress: Whether the depuration phase restores physiological characteristics.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of low concentration Cd stress on bivalves is unclear, however, the authors found that low Cd concentrations affect the physiological characteristics, tissue health, and antioxidant system of C.fluminea and may require a long recovery time to be restored to normal levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Organochlorine pesticides and chlorpyrifos in the sea anemone Bunodosoma zamponii (Actiniaria: Actiniidae) from Argentina's southeastern coast.

TL;DR: Temporal and spatial distribution of organochlorine pesticides and the organophosphate pesticide chlorpyrifos was evaluated in two populations of the sea anemone Bunodosoma zamponii living under different anthropological stressors: Las Delicias (LD) adjacent to a wastewater plant, and Punta Cantera (PC) a reference site.

A rapid and sensitive method for the quantitation of microgram quantities of protein utilizing the principle of protein-dye binding

TL;DR: This assay is very reproducible and rapid with the dye binding process virtually complete in approximately 2 min with good color stability for 1 hr with little or no interference from cations such as sodium or potassium nor from carbohydrates such as sucrose.

Fitting Linear Mixed-Effects Models Using lme4

TL;DR: In this article, a model is described in an lmer call by a formula, in this case including both fixed-and random-effects terms, and the formula and data together determine a numerical representation of the model from which the profiled deviance or the profeatured REML criterion can be evaluated as a function of some of model parameters.

A new and rapid colorimetric determination of acetylcholinesterase activity.

TL;DR: A photometric method for determining acetylcholinesterase activity of tissue extracts, homogenates, cell suspensions, etc., has been described and Kinetic constants determined by this system for erythrocyte eholinesterases are presented.

Past: paleontological statistical software package for education and data analysis

TL;DR: PAST (PAleontological STatistics) as discussed by the authors is a simple-to-use software package for executing a range of standard numerical analysis and operations used in quantitative paleontology.
