A Research for the Application of Genetic Algorithm in The Optimization of Engineering Structure

Abstract
This paper introduces genetic algorithm and compares it with traditional optimization algorithms first. Then, some advanced operators and techniques in GA are given. Afterwards an example is illustrated to show that the algorithm is effective in finding the global optimum. At the same time some improved genetic algorithm in the application are introduced. At last with hope to solve the optimization problems of large and complicated structures better, this paper discusses the combination of GA with other methods, such as traditional optimization algorithms, BP neural networks, Hopfield neural networks, simulated annealing, universal finite element analysis software.
