Abstract: This paper represents the review on industry 4.0 key technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Simulation, Big data analytics etc. Nowadays, the whole working environment in manufacturing organisations is shifting towards advanced industry 4.0 technologies. Industry 4.0 is combining production, communication, and information up-to-date. IoT is being considered as one of the key technologies in an industry 4.0 connected world along with big data analytics and simulation. Industry 4.0 varies entirely from the 3rd revolution in terms of technologies and operating style. IoT is used for industries as Industrial internet of things (IIoT). These IIoT are combined with Cyber-Physical-Systems (CPS), big data, simulation for providing better and advanced industrial set up.

TL;DR: In this article, a review on the advances of robotic and automation technology in achieving industry 4.0 is presented, which is the fourth industrial revolution that was first introduced in Germany.
Abstract: Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution that was first introduced in Germany. This paper presents a review on the advances of robotic and automation technology in achieving industry 4.0. Many companies, research centers, and universities acknowledge that robotics and automation technology is the basis of industrial manufacturing and an important driver for Industry 4.0. Hopefully, from this report, engineering students would be exposed to new inventions of technology revolution as well as to create the business mind for a better future.

01 Jan 2008TL;DR: The research steps and future work in giving reality to the envisioned Smart Factory at the Universitat Stuttgart are presented.
Abstract: The Stuttgart Model of adaptive, transformable and virtual factories, already implemented in German basic research performed at the Universitat Stuttgart has been extended with a new perspective, the so-called “Smart Factory”. The Smart Factory approach is a new dimension of multi-scale manufacturing by using the state-of-the-art ubiquitous/pervasive computing technologies and tools. The Smart Factory represents a context-sensitive manufacturing environment that can handle turbulences in real-time production using decentralized information and communication structures for an optimum management of production processes. This paper presents our research steps and future work in giving reality to the envisioned Smart Factory at the Universitat Stuttgart.

TL;DR: This work proposes a threshold proxy re-encryption scheme and integrates it with a decentralized erasure code such that a secure distributed storage system is formulated and fully integrates encrypting, encoding, and forwarding.
Abstract: A cloud storage system, consisting of a collection of storage servers, provides long-term storage services over the Internet. Storing data in a third party's cloud system causes serious concern over data confidentiality. General encryption schemes protect data confidentiality, but also limit the functionality of the storage system because a few operations are supported over encrypted data. Constructing a secure storage system that supports multiple functions is challenging when the storage system is distributed and has no central authority. We propose a threshold proxy re-encryption scheme and integrate it with a decentralized erasure code such that a secure distributed storage system is formulated. The distributed storage system not only supports secure and robust data storage and retrieval, but also lets a user forward his data in the storage servers to another user without retrieving the data back. The main technical contribution is that the proxy re-encryption scheme supports encoding operations over encrypted messages as well as forwarding operations over encoded and encrypted messages. Our method fully integrates encrypting, encoding, and forwarding. We analyze and suggest suitable parameters for the number of copies of a message dispatched to storage servers and the number of storage servers queried by a key server. These parameters allow more flexible adjustment between the number of storage servers and robustness.

TL;DR: Using PLS-SEM-ANN analysis, findings revealed that PE, FS, AC have a positive significant influence on IN; while IN positively influences FP, and subsequently be aligned with Industry 4.0, the next industrial revolution.
Abstract: Effectiveness of cloud computing technology among the Malaysian manufacturing firms.Applicability of cloud computing improves innovativeness and firm performance.Using PLS-SEM-ANN analysis revealed that innovativeness leads to firm performance. This study explores how performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), firm size (FS), top management support (MS) and absorptive capacity (AC) of cloud computing technology can lead to innovativeness (IN) and firm performance (FP) among the manufacturing firms. Data gathered from 188 managerial positions were analysed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis, together with the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) analysis. Findings revealed that PE, FS, AC have a positive significant influence on IN; while IN positively influences FP. This study offers valuable perspective on the applicability of cloud computing technology to improve IN and FP, and subsequently be aligned with Industry 4.0, the next industrial revolution.
