TL;DR: In this paper, an air flow rate sensor and throttle valve are provided in a control duct between a supply chamber utilizing double ceilings and the air diffusers in the supply chamber, which can be equalized or can be set to the desired values.
Abstract: An air flow rate sensor and throttle valve which controls the opening of a duct in accordance with the detection signals from the air flow rate sensor are provided in a control duct between a supply chamber utilizing double ceilings and the air diffusers in the supply chamber. The quantities of air fed from the respective air diffusers can be equalized or can be set to the desired values. In this case, since the air blowing can be automatically controlled for each diffuser, it is not necessary to individually adjust the quantities of air for the respective air diffusers after the installation of the air conditioner, thereby eliminating the adjusting works of the air diffusers.

14 Mar 2014TL;DR: In this paper, a monitoring system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a building includes a monitoring device installed at the building, a monitoring server located remotely from the building and a review server.
Abstract: A monitoring system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a building includes a monitoring device installed at the building, a monitoring server located remotely from the building, and a review server. The monitoring device measures an aggregate current supplied to components of the HVAC system and transmits current data based on the measured aggregate current. The monitoring server receives the transmitted current data and, based on the received current data, assesses whether failures have occurred in first and second components of the HVAC components. The monitoring server generates a first advisory in response to determining that the failure has occurred in the first component. The review server provides the first advisory to a technician for review and, in response to the technician verifying that the failure has occurred, transmits a first alert.

23 Oct 2001TL;DR: In this article, a graphical user interface system for a thermal comfort controller is presented, where a central processing unit coupled with a memory and a touch sensitive display unit is used to store a temperature schedule data structure and perhaps a temperature history data structure.
Abstract: A graphical user interface system for a thermal comfort controller. The user interface system has a central processing unit coupled to a memory and a touch sensitive display unit. The memory stores a temperature schedule data structure and perhaps a temperature history data structure. The temperature schedule data structure is made up of at least one set-point. The temperature history data structure is made up of at least one Actual-Temperature-Point. The display presents the set-points and/or the Actual-Temperature-Points. One representation of the display is a graphical step-function. The user uses a finger or stylus to program the set-points by pointing and dragging a portion of the step-function.

10 Aug 2010TL;DR: In this paper, a context-aware smart home energy management (CASHEM) system and method is disclosed, which dynamically schedules household energy use to reduce energy consumption by identifying contextual information within said household, selecting a comfort of service preference, and extracting an appliance use schedule for maximum energy savings based on said contextual information in light of said comfort-of-service preferences, by executing program instruction in a data processing apparatus.
Abstract: A context-aware smart home energy management (CASHEM) system and method is disclosed. CASHEM dynamically schedules household energy use to reduce energy consumption by identifying contextual information within said household, selecting a comfort of service preference, wherein said comfort of service preference is based on different said contextual information, and extracting an appliance use schedule for maximum energy savings based on said contextual information in light of said comfort of service preferences, by executing a program instruction in a data processing apparatus. CASHEM correlates said contextual information with energy consumption levels to dynamically schedule said appliance based on an energy-saving condition and a user's comfort. Comfort of service preferences are gathered by CASHEM by monitoring occupant activity levels and use of said appliance. CASHEM can also recommend potential energy savings for a user to modify comfort of service preferences.

TL;DR: In this article, a high efficiency air filter system of the type used in clean rooms and the like, and having a sliding plate valve associated with each filter, is described, where a highly viscous, non-evaporating fluid is positioned between the plates to prevent the air from flowing laterally between them, whereby the volume of air flow may be accurately controlled over the entire area of the clean room as well as the full area of each filter.
Abstract: A high efficiency air filter system of the type used in clean rooms and the like, and having a sliding plate valve associated with each filter. The sliding plate valve is positioned on the downstream side of each filter, and includes a highly viscous, non-evaporating fluid positioned between the plates to thereby prevent the air from flowing laterally between the plates, whereby the volume of air flow may be accurately controlled over the full area of the clean room as well as the full area of each filter.
