Journal ArticleDOI

Coumarins in the Rutaceae

TL;DR: The biogenesis, structural diversity and distribution of simple, furano- and pyranocoumarins in the Rutaceae is reviewed and the potential value of these compounds as taxonomic markers and their possible functions are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composition of the Leaf Oils of the Australian and Lord Howe Island Species of Zanthoxylum (Rutaceae)

TL;DR: The leaf oils of the seven Australian and Lord Howe Island species of Zanthoxylum have been investigated by GC and GC/MS and the Australian material was sesquiterpenoid in nature with β-caryophyllene and germacrene D (18.4%) being major components.
Book ChapterDOI

Chapter 3 Canthin-6-one Alkaloids

TL;DR: This chapter discusses the natural occurrence, structural elucidation, 13 C-NMR spectroscopy, synthesis, biosynthesis, and bioassay and pharmacology of canthin-6-one alkaloids.
Journal ArticleDOI

Constituents of Zanthoxylum Flavum and their Antioxidant and Antimalarial Activities

TL;DR: Biologically guided fractionation of the methanolic extract of the roots of Zanthoxylum flavum Vahi has led to the isolation of 18 constituents, including seven coumarins, seven alkaloids, one lignan, two sterols and one triterpene, which have been identified by comparison of their spectral data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atividades farmacológicas dos extratos de Zanthoxylum chiloperone (Rutaceae)

TL;DR: Results suggest that the extracts from Z. chiloperone possess constituents with antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities.

The chemical constituents of Australian Zanthoxylum species. IV. Two new coumarins from Z. suberosum C. T. White (syn. Z. dominianum Merr. & Perry; Z. ovalifolium Wight)

TL;DR: The tree of Zanthoxylum dominianum Merr. et al. as mentioned in this paper gave suberosin and canthin-6-one in about the same high yields that were previously reported from Z. T. White.
Journal ArticleDOI

The chemicial consitituents of Australian Zanthoxylum species. II. The Constituents of Z. brachyacanthum F. Muell., Z. veneficum F.M. Bail., and Z. suberosum C.T. White

TL;DR: The known substances l-α-canadine methiodide, β-homochelidonine, chelerythrine, isocorydine methidide (a new alkaloid), lupeol, and hesperidin have been isolated from both Z. brachyacanthum F. Muell and Z. veneficum F. Bail.
