Journal ArticleDOI

A critical review on inhibition of anaerobic digestion process by excess ammonia.

TL;DR: It is emphasized that more profound knowledge on parameters influencing ammonia-inhibition is needed to apply appropriate control strategies to ensure a stable and undisturbed digestion of anaerobic digestion of N-rich organic-feedstock.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison on batch anaerobic digestion of five different livestock manures and prediction of biochemical methane potential (BMP) using different statistical models.

TL;DR: The effluents from the HM digesters showed highest nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations and digested SM showed highest potassium concentration, and the model including variables of TC and TF showed the best prediction for BMPs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fungal pretreatment of rice straw with Pleurotus ostreatus and Trichoderma reesei to enhance methane production under solid-state anaerobic digestion

TL;DR: In this article, rice straw was subjected to fungal pretreatment using Pleurotus ostreatus and Trichoderma reesei to improve its biodegradability and methane production via solid-state anaerobic digestion (SS-AD).
Journal ArticleDOI

Batch anaerobic co-digestion of pig manure with dewatered sewage sludge under mesophilic conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the characteristic of anaerobic co-digestion of pig manure (PM) with dewatered sewage sludge (DSS) in a batch experiment under mesophilic (37-±-1-°C) conditions at five different PM/DSS volatile solid (VS) ratios of 1:0, 2:1, 1:1 and 0:1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anaerobic Codigestion of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant Sludge with Food Waste: A Case Study.

TL;DR: Results confirm that codigestion has great potential in improving the methane yield of SS and suggest the biosolids meet the guidelines for use as a soil conditioner.

Anaerobic digestion of swine manure: Inhibition by ammonia

TL;DR: A stable anaerobic degradation of swine manure with ammonia concentration of 6 g-N/litre was obtained in continuously stirred tank reactors with a hydraulic retention time of 15 days, at four different temperatures as discussed by the authors.
