Analysis of Stacked Multicell Converter with Fuzzy Controller

01 Jan 2017-pp 318-330
TL;DR: This paper evolved a new technique, soft switching for unique power converter called stacked multicell converter (SMC), and presents the analysis and simulation results for fuzzy logic controlled multilevel inverter of circuit topologies for open and closed loop operations.
Abstract: In latest years, commercial companies rely upon using static power converters for developing large voltage and large current applications. For these kind applications preferably we choose multilevel inverters. The multilevel inverters are used to convert DC input power to AC output power with more number of voltage levels and with less Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). In this paper, we evolved a new technique, soft switching for unique power converter called stacked multicell converter (SMC). The fuzzy logic controller used to controls the multi levels of operation for Stacked Multicell Converter. As compared to the conventional converter, This SMC topology provides more input voltage levels, reduces the converter energy storage, and also reduces the voltage and current burden on semiconductor switching devices. This paper presents the analysis and simulation results for fuzzy logic controlled multilevel inverter of circuit topologies for open and closed loop operations.

TL;DR: In this paper , the performance analysis of different PV/Thermal configurations is presented, liquid, air, nano fluid, phase change material and Thermoelectric generator type configurations are presented.
Abstract: In the recent times many hybrid renewable energy sources are developed. In that, hybrid PV/Thermal gains the more attention than other hybrid sources. In the present work, made a performance analysis of different PV/Thermal configurations. The flat plate configurations have the more feasibility for the domestic applications than the concentrated type. In this paper, liquid, air, nano fluid, phase change material and Thermoelectric generator type configurations are presented. The performance analysis of all configurations done with energy output generation and efficiency of the system.

Abstract: Multilevel converters are considered today as the state-of-the-art power-conversion systems for high-power and power-quality demanding applications. This paper presents a tutorial on this technology, covering the operating principle and the different power circuit topologies, modulation methods, technical issues and industry applications. Special attention is given to established technology already found in industry with more in-depth and self-contained information, while recent advances and state-of-the-art contributions are addressed with useful references. This paper serves as an introduction to the subject for the not-familiarized reader, as well as an update or reference for academics and practicing engineers working in the field of industrial and power electronics.

Abstract: Multicell power converters were introduced ten years ago. This paper summarizes the main results obtained through the research done on these converters over this period: topology and derivation of multicell choppers and voltage-source inverters; harmonics cancellation; open-loop modulation techniques; self-balancing understanding; and optimization. During this same period, industrial products using this technique have been developed and the corresponding know-how has contributed to the field in various ways, such as modular design, low inductance busbars, specific drivers, etc.

TL;DR: A review of the fundamentals of fuzzy sets, fuzzy rules and fuzzy inference systems is provided in this chapter and the different defuzzification techniques and their processes are discussed with the same example step by step.
Abstract: A review of the fundamentals of fuzzy sets, fuzzy rules and fuzzy inference systems is provided in this chapter. Beginning with crisp or classical sets and their operations, we derived fuzzy sets and their operations. Classical set membership functions and fuzzy membership functions are discussed in detail following set theory. Fuzzy rules are described using an air conditioner control example. The different defuzzification techniques and their processes are discussed with the same example step by step. Finally, some other fuzzy techniques are discussed such as off-line and on-line fuzzy control systems as well as a fuzzy closed-loop control system including multiple lookup tables.

TL;DR: Different ways to introduce soft switching in multicell converters are investigated and the concept of distributing power over several switches, giving more degrees of freedom and using less passive components, is extended further with the stacked multICEll topology.
Abstract: Multicell converters were introduced ten years ago and, over this period, their properties have been thoroughly analyzed. Since then, this concept has lead to some other innovative topologies which are briefly presented in this paper. Different ways to introduce soft switching in multicell converters are investigated. The concept of distributing power over several switches, giving more degrees of freedom and using less passive components, is extended further with the stacked multicell topology. Finally, direct AC-AC converters using the multicell approach are described.
