Laticifers in Camptotheca acuminata Decne: distribution and structure.

TL;DR: The discovery in C. acuminata of a laticifer system, which had never been described for the order Cornales, could be of taxonomic value, also considering that this order has traditionally represented one of the most problematic groups of flowering plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of the epiphyllous inflorescence of helwingia japonica (helwingiaceae)

TL;DR: It is argued that the vascular -anatomy does not conclusively confirm the hypothesis that the epiphyllous inflorescence is the congenital fusion product of a leaf and an axillary inflorescence, and it is suggested that the interplay of changes in the position of primordium initiation, and intercalary growth, offers an ontogenetic explanation of the situation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative leaf anatomy, FTIR discrimination and biogeographical analysis of Camellia section Tuberculata (Theaceae) with a discussion of its taxonomic treatments

TL;DR: The study indicates that the combination of characters based on leaf comparative anatomy, FTIR analysis and biogeographical distribution are useful in species revision and determine 11 species in section Tuberculata.

Fossil woods from the Beaufort Formation (Tertiary), northwestern Banks Island, Canada

S. K. Roy, +1 more
- 01 Dec 1972 -
TL;DR: The fossil woods of the Beaufort Formation are very similar to the woods of some extant arborescent species of northern North America and northeastern Asia and the fossil flora indicates a temperate climate similar to that of the present-day boreal forest.
