TLDR
In this chapter, various geospatial process-based techniques segregated into two different categories, i.e., conventional and advanced, are provided for agricultural water management.Abstract:
The geospatial technology is an emerging technique to study real earth geographic information using Geographical Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) and other ground information from various devices and instruments. In this chapter, various geospatial process-based techniques segregated into two different categories, i.e., conventional and advanced, are provided for agricultural water management. The descriptions of several approaches are provided to understand the role of geospatial technology in agricultural water management. Most of the approaches are based on remote sensing and GIS in correspondence with statistical learning techniques that can be possibly used for agricultural water management.read more

Global Water Resources: Vulnerability from Climate Change and Population Growth
TL;DR: Numerical experiments combining climate model outputs, water budgets, and socioeconomic information along digitized river networks demonstrate that (i) a large proportion of the world's population is currently experiencing water stress and (ii) rising water demands greatly outweigh greenhouse warming in defining the state of global water systems to 2025.

A simple hydrologically based model of land surface water and energy fluxes for general circulation models
TL;DR: In this paper, a generalization of the single soil layer variable infiltration capacity (VIC) land surface hydrological model previously implemented in the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) general circulation model (GCM) is described.

Evaluation of ecosystem dynamics, plant geography and terrestrial carbon cycling in the LPJ dynamic global vegetation model
Stephen Sitch,Benjamin Smith,Iain Colin Prentice,Almut Arneth,Alberte Bondeau,Wolfgang Cramer,Jed O. Kaplan,Samuel Levis,Samuel Levis,Wolfgang Lucht,Martin T. Sykes,Kirsten Thonicke,Sergey Venevsky +12 more
TL;DR: The LPJ model as mentioned in this paper combines process-based, large-scale representations of terrestrial vegetation dynamics and land-atmosphere carbon and water exchanges in a modular framework, including feedback through canopy conductance between photosynthesis and transpiration and interactive coupling between these 'fast' processes and other ecosystem processes.

An adaptive inverse-distance weighting spatial interpolation technique
George Y. Lu,David Wong +1 more
TL;DR: Adaptive IDW performs better than the constant parameter method in most cases, and better than ordinary kriging in one of the authors' empirical studies when the spatial structure in the data could not be modeled effectively by typical variogram functions.

Surface soil moisture parameterization of the VIC-2L model: Evaluation and modification
TL;DR: In this article, a modified version of VIC-2L, which has a new feature that allows diffusion of moisture between soil layers, and a 0.1 m thin layer on top of the previous upper layer, is described.
