TLDR
The Miville-Guzman Universality-Diversity Scale (M-GUDS) as mentioned in this paper was defined as an attitude of awareness and acceptance of both the similarities and differences that exist among people.
Abstract
Universal-diverse orientation was defined as an attitude of awareness and acceptance of both the similarities and differences that exist among people. A 45-item scale developed to measure the construct was administered to 4 separate samples (ns = 93, 111, 153, and 135). Internal consistency and retest reliability for the Miville-Guzman Universality-Diversity Scale (M-GUDS) ranged from .89 to .95. The M-GUDS significantly correlated in theoretically predicted ways with measures of racial identity, empathy, healthy narcissism, feminism, androgyny, homophobia, and dogmatism (the last 2 correlations were negative). The M-GUDS displayed discriminant validity by failing to correlate with Scholastic Achievement Test Verbal scores, although mixed results were obtained with social desirability. In summary, the data suggest considerable reliability and initial construct validity for the M-GUDS.

Changes in Dispositional Empathy in American College Students Over Time: A Meta-Analysis

TL;DR: Changes over time in a commonly used measure of dispositional empathy are found: Empathic Concern was most sharply dropping, followed by Perspective Taking, and the IRI Fantasy and Personal Distress subscales exhibited no changes over time.

Factor Structure and Short Form of the Miville-Guzman Universality-Diversity Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the factor structure of the Miville-Guzman Universality-Diversity Scale (M-GUDS) and developed a short form of the scale, the M-GUIDS.

Measuring individual differences in empathy: Evidence for a multidimensional approach.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) to facilitate a multidimensional approach to empathy, which includes four subscales: Perspective-Taking (PT), Fantasy (FS), Empathic Concern (EC), and Personal Distress (PD).

The measurement of psychological androgyny.

TL;DR: A new sex-role inventory is described that treats masculinity and femininity as two independent dimensions, thereby making it possible to characterize a person as masculine, feminine, or "androgynous" as a function of the difference between his or her endorsement of masculine and feminine personality characteristics.

Distinguishing optimism from neuroticism (and trait anxiety, self-mastery, and self-esteem): a reevaluation of the Life Orientation Test

TL;DR: Examination of the scale on somewhat different grounds, however, does suggest that future applications can benefit from its revision, and a minor modification to the Life Orientation Test is described, along with data bearing on the revised scale's psychometric properties.

A multidimensional approach to individual differences in empathy

TL;DR: In this paper, the development of a multidimensional individual difference measure of empathy is described, which consists of four seven-item subscales, each of which taps a separate aspect of the global concept "empathy."
