TL;DR: In this article, the effect of radiation on the forced and free convection flow of an optically dense viscous incompressible fluid along a heated vertical flat plate with uniform free stream and uniform surface temperature with Rosseland diffusion approximation was investigated.
Abstract: This paper investigates the effect of radiation on the forced and free convection flow of an optically dense viscous incompressible fluid along a heated vertical flat plate with uniform free stream and uniform surface temperature with Rosseland diffusion approximation. With appropriate transformations, the boundary layer equations governing the flow are reduced to local nonsimilarity equations valid in the forced convection regime as well as in the free convection regime. A group of transformation is, also, introduced to reduce the boundary layer equations to a set of local nonsimilarity equations valid in both the forced and free convection regimes. Solutions of the governing equations are obtained by employing the implicit finite difference methods together with Keller box scheme and are expressed in terms of local shear stress and local rate of heat transfer for a range of values of the pertinent parameters.

TL;DR: In this article, the boundary-layer flow over a semi-infinite vertical flat plate, heated to a constant temperature in a uniform free stream, is discussed in the two cases when the buoyancy forces aid and oppose the development of the boundary layer.
Abstract: The boundary-layer flow over a semi-infinite vertical flat plate, heated to a constant temperature in a uniform free stream, is discussed in the two cases when the buoyancy forces aid and oppose the development of the boundary layer. In the former case, two series solutions are obtained, one of which is valid near the leading edge and the other is valid asymptotically. An accurate numerical method is used to describe the flow in the region where the series are not valid. In the latter case, a series, valid near the leading edge is obtained and it is extended by a numerical method to the point where the boundary layer is shown to separate.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method is presented for calculating the shear stress and the rate of heat transfer in external flows for combined laminar forced and free convection, and the parameter Gr/Re2 is of fundamental importance in such problems.
Abstract: A method is presented for calculating the shear stress and the rate of heat transfer in external flows for combined laminar forced and free convection. The parameter Gr/Re2 is of fundamental importance in such problems. Numerical results are reported for the heating and cooling of upward flow past a vertical flat for three Prandtl numbers. It is found that the transition from forced to free convection is gradual, especially at high Prandtl numbers. The inflence of free convection on the separation point is also examined.
