TLDR
A framework for psychological contributions is developed, what psychology has learned is summarized, an agenda for making additional contributions is set out, and the greatest potential for contributions comes not from direct application of psychological concepts but from integrating psychological knowledge and methods with knowledge from other fields of science and technology.Abstract:
Psychology can make a significant contribution to limiting the magnitude of climate change by improving understanding of human behaviors that drive climate change and human reactions to climate-related technologies and policies, and by turning that understanding into effective interventions. This article develops a framework for psychological contributions, summarizes what psychology has learned, and sets out an agenda for making additional contributions. It emphasizes that the greatest potential for contributions from psychology comes not from direct application of psychological concepts but from integrating psychological knowledge and methods with knowledge from other fields of science and technology.read more

Using the theory of planned behavior to identify key beliefs underlying pro-environmental behavior in high-school students: Implications for educational interventions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors rely on the theory of planned behavior to identify the beliefs that influence young people's pro-environmental behavior and find that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceptions of control made independent contributions to the prediction of intentions, and intentions together with perceived control predicted behavior.

For better or for worse? Empirical evidence of moral licensing in a behavioral energy conservation campaign
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated whether positive or perverse side effects dominate by exemplifying the impact of a water conservation campaign on electricity consumption, showing that residents who received weekly feedback on their water consumption decreased their water use but increased their electricity consumption by 5.6%.

The theory of planned behavior
TL;DR: Ajzen, 1985, 1987, this article reviewed the theory of planned behavior and some unresolved issues and concluded that the theory is well supported by empirical evidence and that intention to perform behaviors of different kinds can be predicted with high accuracy from attitudes toward the behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control; and these intentions, together with perceptions of behavioral control, account for considerable variance in actual behavior.
