Controlling and monitoring process in industrial automation using Zigbee

Abstract: WSN based Zigbee network has been extensively used in monitoring and controlling purpose in industries. In this paper, deployment of the Zigbee based WSN for monitoring and controlling the power at each work station in the weaving industry is discussed. Here the traditional working of the weaving industry is discussed and the suitability of Zigbee in monitoring and direct load controlling for the efficient power utilization is proposed. The CC2431 module is considered for wireless transmission. The controlling action is made possible with the microcontroller present in the CC2431 module. The main aim of this work is used to monitor the different workstations at industries using Zigbee devices and to correspondingly cut off the power to the particular workstation when it is in idle state without distracting the other workstations. The issues related with power and transmission range of the proposed work are discussed.

Abstract: ZigBee is a low cost, low-power consumption and long battery life network that is based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard; which is most usually used to transfer low data rates information in the Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN). In the Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) network, capability of sensor network and mobile network are combined that have energy limit and sensing range limits. Here a network is composed of a number of Sub-Network or groups with the selection of group leader. Group formation is defined under sensing range limit, density limit and type of nodes. The selection of group leader is defined under velocity analysis, energy and average distance after that inter group and intra group communication is performed and then Handoff mechanism is performed when nodes switch the group or group switch the base station. Index Terms—BS (base station), WPAN (wireless personal area network), LOS (Line of sight), NLOS (Non Line of Sight), APP (Application Layer), NWK (Network Layer), MAC ( Medium Access Control).

Abstract: PIC microcontroller-based embedded system is used in this system for processing, and it was done by collecting the inputs from vibration sensor, LDR, and accelerometer sensor. Siren sound will alert the public when a robbery was recognized. ATM door will spontaneously close once the robbery was detected. Once the robber inhales the dose defined, solenoid valve in the circuit will leak gas (chloroform) inside the ATM chamber so that the thief will loose his consciousness. GSM modem will send message to the corresponding bank manager, officers, and nearby police station. In future, we can enhance this protection technique by entering a password in ATM door so that we can prevent the occurrence of robbery.

Abstract: The crucial prerequisite in these days is to get rid of various forms of attacks. Nowadays, for financial transaction, automated teller machines (ATMs) are the mostly used gadgets in which personal identification numbers (PINs) are generally used for transaction. But personal identification numbers (PINs) are not secured from many types of threats (spoofing, eavesdropping, man-in-the middle attack etc.), which can affect the security of the confidential and private information. Due to this reason, different biometric systems gain popularity worldwide for their behavioral and physiological features. However, the current biometric systems, for example, iris, palm, faces or voice are extremely complex to use and have different disadvantages. In order to overcome these disadvantages a new concept has been introduced in this paper, for authentication in ATM a fingerprint authentication method and for information (finger print) transfer a combined approach fingerprint and RF technology scheme is used. Finger authentication system is implemented by the combination of fingerprint reader and fingerprint sensors. For the purpose of information (fingerprint) scanners work by capturing the pattern of ridges and valleys on a finger. The information is then scanners work by the device’s pattern analysis. For fingerprint authentication system, the experiment shows that in proposed classification the average recognition accuracy is 99.75% and 99.92 % and the execution time is 0.168 s and 0.187 s respectively..

Abstract: Many governments deploy ubiquitous IT project, which aims to combine the latest wireless network and wide-band technologies etc to accomplish a ubiquitous wireless communication network The ubiquitous wireless communication network can be utilized for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Therefore, this paper tries to use the new wireless communication technologies to design and implement a ZigBee-based smart power meter An outage recording system is also designed and embedded into the smart meter The microcontroller of Microchip dsPIC30F series is used to develop the proposed smart power meter A ZigBee system is then deigned and integrated into the proposed power meter, and used to transmit the detailed power consumption data and outage event data to rear-end processing system The proposed smart power meter cannot only be used for power consumption data collection but also for outage event data recording The proposed system has great potential to be used to build the area-based AMI Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed system Besides, the application of ZigBee communication in power area may, expectedly, lead to make a definite contribution to ubiquitous IT project

Abstract: This paper proposes remote-controllable and energy-saving room architecture to reduce standby power consumption and to make the room easily controllable with an IR remote control of a home appliance. To realize the proposed room architecture, we proposed and designed the automatic standby power cut-off outlet and a ZigBee controller with IR code learning functionality. The proposed power outlet monitors the power consumption for the predetermined time and completely cuts off the power supply when the monitored power is below the threshold. This power outlet has a function of changing the threshold power, which enables any kinds of home appliances to be applied to the power outlet. To efficiently manage the power outlets and the lights, we proposed the ZigBee controller with IR code learning functionality. The ZigBee controller has several onboard buttons to wake up the power outlets and control the dimming light. By using IR code learning functionality, the ZigBee controller can assign a certain IR code of a remote control of a home appliance to the power outlet or the dimming light. A user can control the power outlets and the dimming light with an IR remote control of any home appliance. Our proposed room architecture provides the remote-controllable and energy-saving room.

Abstract: Aiming at the requirement for monitoring and controlling information in Smart Grid, the applications of ZigBee technology for Smart Grid were analyzed. After ZigBee technology and its features for Smart Grid were introduced, the prospects of ZigBee applications for Smart Grid were discussed in the cases of ZigBee applications in Smart Grid HAN, fault locating and UHV transmission lines monitoring. Some attentions should be paid to ZigBee applications for Smart Grid were proposed. Finally, ZigBee technology would be integrated with Smart Grid gradually and become an indispensable basic wireless communication technology in constructing Smart Grid were pointed out.
