Cultural intelligence as an antecedent of satisfaction with the travel app and with the tourism experience

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose and validate a model in which cultural intelligence (CQ) is an antecedent of satisfaction with the travel app and with the tourism experience, based on a sample of 243 Spanish tourists who used a travel app on their trip.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper rethinks the impact of postmodern authenticity on two different types of presences (Sense of Presence and Telepresence) and hence on visitor satisfaction and travel intention, by focusing on AR-based World Cultural Heritage Site - Mount Tai, China.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The emergence of Augmented Reality (AR) enriched and further enhanced the tourism experience. Drawn upon presence theory and a postmodernist perspective, this study rethinks the impact of postmodern authenticity on two different types of presences (Sense of Presence and Telepresence) and hence on visitor satisfaction and travel intention, by focusing on AR-based World Cultural Heritage Site – Mount Tai, China. Data were collected from 225 respondents visiting AR-based Mount Tai. Results demonstrated that postmodern authenticity positively predicts presences, satisfaction, and travel intention, and Postmodern authenticity has a more substantial effect on the Sense of Presence. Moreover, both types of presence positively predict satisfaction, hence travel intention while Sense of Presence has a stronger effect. Theoretical and managerial implications are presented.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors integrated stimulus-organism response model (S-O-R) and psychological reaction theory (PRT) to explore the factors that influence users' app usage experiences and behavioral responses.
Abstract: In the age of digitalization, travel applications (or travel apps) are indispensable tools for modern travel activities. During an app's selection and adoption phases, privacy concerns remain a sensitive issue that may demotivate users’ from continuing to use it. This study integrated both the stimulus-organism-response model (S-O-R) and psychological reaction theory (PRT) to explore the factors that influence users’ app usage experiences and behavioral responses. A self-administered questionnaire was designed and distributed to Gen Y users in mainland China. The findings of PLS-SEM analysis showed that usage intentions are predicted by the ability of travel apps to engage with users and generate favorable values. Additionally, users with low privacy concerns were shown to have a stronger intention to recommend travel apps to others. All in all, the findings from this study offer valuable insights to tourism providers and app developers.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used Python to compare CA and CN e-commerce websites and investigate the impact of culture on their website design, finding that western consumers are different from eastern ones.
Abstract: E-commerce has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, and with the rapid adoption of the internet, this industry, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has gained access to the global market. However, reaching consumers with different cultures may not be straightforward, as consumers may react differently to the same service. Knowing how to effectively communicate with consumers is crucial for generating revenue. Therefore, simply translating a website is not a solution and may create a negative impression among consumers, particularly since cultural thinking differs significantly between Western and Eastern countries. This research aims to confirm the existing literature that suggests western consumers are different from eastern ones. To do this, the structures of 90 e-commerce enterprises in Canada and China were compared. This study used Python to compare CA and CN e-commerce websites and investigate the impact of culture on their website design. The model analyzed 90 websites and was able to clearly demonstrate the distinct designs of the websites.

TL;DR: In this paper, a six-step framework for organizing and discussing multivariate data analysis techniques with flowcharts for each is presented, focusing on the use of each technique, rather than its mathematical derivation.
Abstract: Offers an applications-oriented approach to multivariate data analysis, focusing on the use of each technique, rather than its mathematical derivation. The text introduces a six-step framework for organizing and discussing techniques with flowcharts for each. Well-suited for the non-statistician, this applications-oriented introduction to multivariate analysis focuses on the fundamental concepts that affect the use of specific techniques rather than the mathematical derivation of the technique. Provides an overview of several techniques and approaches that are available to analysts today - e.g., data warehousing and data mining, neural networks and resampling/bootstrapping. Chapters are organized to provide a practical, logical progression of the phases of analysis and to group similar types of techniques applicable to most situations. Table of Contents 1. Introduction. I. PREPARING FOR A MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS. 2. Examining Your Data. 3. Factor Analysis. II. DEPENDENCE TECHNIQUES. 4. Multiple Regression. 5. Multiple Discriminant Analysis and Logistic Regression. 6. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide guidance for substantive researchers on the use of structural equation modeling in practice for theory testing and development, and present a comprehensive, two-step modeling approach that employs a series of nested models and sequential chi-square difference tests.
Abstract: In this article, we provide guidance for substantive researchers on the use of structural equation modeling in practice for theory testing and development. We present a comprehensive, two-step modeling approach that employs a series of nested models and sequential chi-square difference tests. We discuss the comparative advantages of this approach over a one-step approach. Considerations in specification, assessment of fit, and respecification of measurement models using confirmatory factor analysis are reviewed. As background to the two-step approach, the distinction between exploratory and confirmatory analysis, the distinction between complementary approaches for theory testing versus predictive application, and some developments in estimation methods also are discussed.

TL;DR: This paper discusses many of the important IS success research contributions of the last decade, focusing especially on research efforts that apply, validate, challenge, and propose enhancements to the original model.
Abstract: Ten years ago, we presented the DeLone and McLean Information Systems (IS) Success Model as a framework and model for measuring the complex-dependent variable in IS research. In this paper, we discuss many of the important IS success research contributions of the last decade, focusing especially on research efforts that apply, validate, challenge, and propose enhancements to our original model. Based on our evaluation of those contributions, we propose minor refinements to the model and propose an updated DeLone and McLean IS Success Model. We discuss the utility of the updated model for measuring e-commerce system success. Finally, we make a series of recommendations regarding current and future measurement of IS success.

TL;DR: The results suggest that users' continuance intention is determined by their satisfaction with IS use and perceived usefulness of continued IS use, and that post-acceptance perceived usefulness is influenced by users' confirmation level.
Abstract: This paper examines cognitive beliefs and affect influencing one's intention to continue using (continuance) information systems (IS). Expectation-confirmation theory is adapted from the consumer behavior literature and integrated with theoretical and empirical findings from prior IS usage research to theorize a model of IS continuance. Five research hypotheses derived from this model are empirically validated using a field survey of online banking users. The results suggest that users' continuance intention is determined by their satisfaction with IS use and perceived usefulness of continued IS use. User satisfaction, in turn, is influenced by their confirmation of expectation from prior IS use and perceived usefulness. Post-acceptance perceived usefulness is influenced by users' confirmation level. This study draws attention to the substantive differences between acceptance and continuance behaviors, theorizes and validates one of the earliest theoretical models of IS continuance, integrates confirmation and user satisfaction constructs within our current understanding of IS use, conceptualizes and creates an initial scale for measuring IS continuance, and offers an initial explanation for the acceptance-discontinuance anomaly.
