Abstract
In this paper, a design of broadband planar substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) transvar coupler is demonstrated. A study has been carried out to explore the effects of the number and size of coupling apertures, placed in the side wall of the four port coupler, on its performance. A design curve is also formulated to relate the bandwidth performance of the coupler with the number of apertures. Finally a six aperture coupler has been designed and fabricated to validate the simulation results. The proposed coupler is a good candidate for circular polarized antenna feeding network.

Design of SIW variable phase shifter for beam steering antenna application

TL;DR: In this article, a variable phase shifter in SIW technology for beam steering antenna application is presented, where the phase difference between antenna array elements can be varied which results in changing the direction of maximum radiation.

Review of substrate-integrated waveguide circuits and antennas

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide an overview of the recent advances in the modelling, design and technological implementation of SIW structures and components, as well as their application in the development of circuits and components operating in the microwave and millimetre wave region.

Surface impedance of an infinite parallel-wire grid at oblique angles of incidence

TL;DR: In this article, a study of the scattering of a plane wave incident obliquely upon an infinite plane grid of parallel equidistant circular wires was made, where exact formulae and curves for the shunt reactance of the grid were given for the most useful case in which the spacing is less than a wavelength.

Substrate integrated waveguide 180-degree narrow-wall directional coupler

TL;DR: In this article, the authors combined a narrow-wall directional coupler with slow wave structure in SIW technique and achieved an over 54% bandwidth with /spl plusmn/03dB power equality, -20 dB isolation and 180 degrees phase shift between the output-and coupled ports as well for a coupler of length of 059.

Half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) double-slot coupler

TL;DR: Based on a newly proposed guided wave structure of halfmode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW), a narrow-wall double-slot 3'dB directional coupler is proposed, which keeps the advantages of an SIW coupler but with a reduction of nearly one-half in size and better isolation as discussed by the authors.

E-plane directional couplers in substrate-integrated waveguide technology

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present all-dielectric rectangular waveguide interface ports that considerably reduce the reflections at the transition to the SIW component and apply them to the design of SIW E-plane couplers.
