25 May 2018-pp 1919-1923
TL;DR: The smart mirror, as a mirror display screen, offeres a kind of safer, more comfortable, more conveniently, more swift and open intelligent, information-based living space to household in the intellectual district.
Abstract: The Smart Mirror based on traditional household mirror belongs to home automation system to meet consumers' needs towards intelligent life. It provides occupants with a series of intelligent experiences such as home appliance control, information acquisition, environmental monitoring, entertainment and remote operation. The intelligent home control platform - The Smart Mirror is designed to solve the problem of smart home communication and information integration in the family. Based on the development of Raspberry Pie, unidirectional mirror and the infrared frame and other hardware devices, the smart mirror, as a mirror display screen, offeres a kind of safer, more comfortable, more conveniently, more swift and open intelligent, information-based living space to household in the intellectual district.

TL;DR: This paper presents a review upon applications of smart mirrors, a mirror that acts as a reflective surface and as an interactive screen at the same time in the internet of Things.
Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) allows devices to communicate with each other in different and important places at the same time. Smart things are developed in ways that interact with each other, such as smart doors and smart homes. One of the most important IoT applications is the smart mirror. It is a mirror that acts as a reflective surface and as an interactive screen at the same time. Smart mirrors can be implemented for different purposes such as a simulator for medical students and an assistant in the fitting rooms. This paper presents a review upon applications of smart mirrors.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Raspberry Pi-based smart mirror with the main function of detecting faces and documenting physical appearances is presented on an Android application, where a comparison of face detection and recognition method is carried out between the Haar Cascade method and the Local Binary Pattern method.
Abstract: Smart Mirror is an emerging technology capable of various reasons, among others, to report missing children to the authorities. It is a device that functions as a mirror, which is built from a two-way mirror with an electronic display behind it and has additional capabilities such as processing and presenting multimedia data. This research includes designing a Raspberry Pi-based smart mirror with the main function of detecting faces and documenting physical appearances which will later be presented on an Android application. A comparison of face detection and recognition method is carried out between the Haar Cascade method and the Local Binary Pattern method. The test results show that both methods have advantages in speed of identification depending on the number of users, where Haar Cascade is superior for two or less people, and Local Binary Pattern is superior for three or more people in one iteration process.

TL;DR: Facial expression detection will be implemented so that smart mirror is able to interact with user and recognize changes of the facial muscle and make decision to display related information.
Abstract: The smart mirror projects consisting of observable mirror, microcontroller, camera and PC monitor. Existing smart projects are limited with features available and only displaying information based on command receiving directly from the user. To make this mirror to be smarter, artificial intelligence are added in this project. Facial expression detection will be implemented so that smart mirror is able to interact with user and recognize changes of the facial muscle. By accordingly to their expression, smart mirror will make decision to display related information. Only recognized user can utilize this smart mirror via face recognition. At end of the project, a working smart mirror is expected and have ability to become one of these connected devices in our households.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a low-cost intelligent mirror system that can display a variety of details based on user recommendations, such as weather information, date, time, calendar, to-do list, updated news headlines, traffic updates, COVID-19 cases status and so on.
Abstract: We are living in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, which also treated as 4IR or Industry 4.0. Generally, 4IR considered as the mixture of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and other frontier technologies. It is obvious that nowadays a plethora of smart devices is providing services to make the daily life of humans easier. However, in the morning most people around the globe use a traditional mirror while preparing themselves for daily tasks. The aim is to build a low-cost intelligent mirror system that can display a variety of details based on user recommendations. Therefore, in this article, Internet of Things (IoT) and AI-based smart mirror is introduced that will support the users to receive the necessary daily update of weather information, date, time, calendar, to-do list, updated news headlines, traffic updates, COVID-19 cases status and so on. Moreover, a face detection method also implemented with the smart mirror to construct the architecture more secure. Our proposed MirrorME application provides a success rate of nearly 87% in interacting with the features of face recognition and voice input. The mirror is capable of delivering multimedia facilities while maintaining high levels of security within the device.
