Abstract
During the past decade, design-based research has demonstrated its potential as a methodology suitable to both research and design of technology-enhanced learning environments (TELEs). In this paper, we define and identify characteristics of design-based research, describe the importance of design-based research for the development of TELEs, propose principles for implementing design-based research with TELEs, and discuss future challenges of using this methodology. Standardizing an Organizational Approach to CARF Survey Preparation: A Quality Improvement Project

TL;DR: Standardizing an Organizational Approach to CARF Survey Preparation as mentioned in this paper is a design-based research project that synthesizes the existing knowledge of four interdisciplinary communities of practice to create an effective and efficient program that is process-driven rather than person-dependent.

Student perceptions of self-efficacy in the foreign language classroom: A design-based research study

TL;DR: This article examined how practice affects students' sense of self-efficacy in the foreign language classroom and found that practice and selfefficacy are indeed linked and that other factors such as peer familiarity and grading also play a role.

Initial Design Principles for an Educational, On-line Information Security Laboratory

TL;DR: Five initial design principles are described: contextualization, collaboration, flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and scalability, which are deemed to represent a good fit to the contextual goals for developing on-line security labs in the context of the target university.

A study of the relationship between cbt developers' multiple intelligences dispositions and the design of computer-based training

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assessed the relationship between CBT developers' multiple intelligences (MI) dispositions and their designs for computer-based training programs (CBTs) based on the theoretical framework of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences and theories about instructional design.

The New Meaning of Educational Change

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a brief history of educational change at the local and national level, and discuss the causes and problems of implementation and continuation of change at both the local level and the national level.

Design Experiments: Theoretical and Methodological Challenges in Creating Complex Interventions in Classroom Settings

TL;DR: The lion's share of my current research program is devoted to the study of learning in the blooming, buzzing confusion of inner-city classrooms, and central to the enterprise is that the classroom must function smoothly as a learning environment before the authors can study anything other than the myriad possible ways that things can go wrong.

Participatory Action Research

TL;DR: Whyte as discussed by the authors discusses the role of the social scientist in participatory action research in agricultural research and development in the context of agricultural data collection and data sharing in the field of agricultural research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design Experiments in Educational Research

TL;DR: Design experiments have both a pragmatic bent and a theoretical orientation as mentioned in this paper, developing domain-specific theories by systematically studying those forms of learning and the means of supporting them, and the authors clarify what is involved in preparing for and carrying out a design experiment, and conduct a retrospective analysis of the extensive, longitudinal data sets generated during an experiment.
