Abstract
During the past decade, design-based research has demonstrated its potential as a methodology suitable to both research and design of technology-enhanced learning environments (TELEs). In this paper, we define and identify characteristics of design-based research, describe the importance of design-based research for the development of TELEs, propose principles for implementing design-based research with TELEs, and discuss future challenges of using this methodology. Constrained sustainable urban mobility: the possible contribution of research by design in two Palestinian cities

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the concepts of sustainable urban mobility and livability in a conflictual context dominated by segregation and physical isolation, and define the possible contribution of a short-term and constrained research by design process as an effective method in such a context, in order to both develop new knowledge, to produce tools for mediation and defend a vision for the future in conflict situation.

Exploring the potential of blended learning to promote retention and achievement in higher education professional study programs

TL;DR: In this paper, a blended learning model for a university professional study program attended by full-time professional workers is presented, which integrates four main instructional strategies at the program level: mentoring, participation in an online community of professional learning and practice, collaborative concept-mapping with an object-typed knowledge modeling software, and face-to-face seminars in a work setting.

Scientific concepts in singing: do they belong in a student toolbox of learning

TL;DR: In this paper, a five-year Australian study was conducted to look at learning singing in a pedagogical environment designed using sociocultural theory and found that the students' acquisition of scientific concepts of singing affected both their singing performance and their ability to learn in a positive way.

Social change agent training program tailored to occupational therapists’ needs: a design-based study protocol

TL;DR: The overall goal of this research partnership is to support practising OTs in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to act as SCAs through a specific SCA training program and a toolkit that summarizes the key training points.

Design Experiments: Theoretical and Methodological Challenges in Creating Complex Interventions in Classroom Settings

TL;DR: The lion's share of my current research program is devoted to the study of learning in the blooming, buzzing confusion of inner-city classrooms, and central to the enterprise is that the classroom must function smoothly as a learning environment before the authors can study anything other than the myriad possible ways that things can go wrong.

Participatory Action Research

TL;DR: Whyte as discussed by the authors discusses the role of the social scientist in participatory action research in agricultural research and development in the context of agricultural data collection and data sharing in the field of agricultural research.

Design Experiments in Educational Research

TL;DR: Design experiments have both a pragmatic bent and a theoretical orientation as mentioned in this paper, developing domain-specific theories by systematically studying those forms of learning and the means of supporting them, and the authors clarify what is involved in preparing for and carrying out a design experiment, and conduct a retrospective analysis of the extensive, longitudinal data sets generated during an experiment.
