Determinants of education quality: what makes students’ perception different?

TL;DR: In this article, a sample of 432 students was taken from five top private universities of Bangladesh to evaluate their perception toward dimensions of higher education, and a multinomial regression analysis was conducted to identify the characteristics of students which make their perception about quality education dissimilar.
Abstract: In recent decades, the commercialization of education has become more apparent and the need for using marketing tools is greater than before. This study aims to identify the demographic and background information of students that differentiate their perception about quality of higher education. A sample of 432 students was taken from five top private universities of Bangladesh to evaluate their perception toward dimensions of higher education. Multinomial regression analysis was conducted to identify the characteristics of students which make their perception about quality of higher education dissimilar. The findings show that status of students for scholarship, extracurricular activities, parents’ education, age, previous result, and university they study in have a significant influence on perception about quality of higher education. Part-time job status has moderate influence on the students’ perception. This research carries value to education policy-makers and university authorities. They can...

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of working conditions on quality education in Indonesia in the presence of mediation of faculty retention and employability is studied, where data was collected from 293 faculty members of the educational institutes of Indonesia and confirmatory factor analysis CFA and structural equation modeling approaches have been used.
Abstract: Education has become inevitable for every country and specifically for every person to proceed in with the appropriate pace. Life is really difficult to be lived without essential amount of education. Many countries are giving attention towards this cause and are making strategies and policies to improve the quality of education in the country. For better quality of education, working conditions of the educational institutes is very important. In addition, faculty retention and employability are very crucial in this regard. In the current study, the aim of the author is to study the impact of working conditions on quality education in Indonesia in the presence of mediation of faculty retention and employability. For this purpose, data was collected from 293 faculty members of the educational institutes of Indonesia. To analyze the gathered data, confirmatory factor analysis CFA and structural equation modeling approaches have been used. The results of data analysis have shown that the impact of working condition on quality education is insignificant but the mediating role of employability and faculty retention are significant in this regard. In the last section of the study, several theoretical, practical and policy making implications have been discussed by the author. In addition, some limitations and future research indications have also been described.

TL;DR: The main aim of this work is to develop a computational environment to both analyze and visualize student discussion groups working in a collaborative way to accomplish a task and show that this information can help to support complex decision-making processes.
Abstract: Nowadays, companies and organizations require highly competitive professionals that have the necessary skills to confront new challenges. However, current evaluation techniques do not allow detection of skills that are valuable in the work environment, such as collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication. Multimodal learning analytics is a prominent discipline related to the analysis of several modalities of natural communication (e.g., speech, writing, gestures, sight) during educational processes. The main aim of this work is to develop a computational environment to both analyze and visualize student discussion groups working in a collaborative way to accomplish a task. ReSpeaker devices were used to collect speech data from students, and the collected data were modeled by using influence graphs. Three centrality measures were defined, namely permanence, persistence, and prompting, to measure the activity of each student and the influence exerted between them. As a proof of concept, we carried out a case study made up of 11 groups of undergraduate students that had to solve an engineering problem with everyday materials. Thus, we show that our system allows to find and visualize nontrivial information regarding interrelations between subjects in collaborative working groups; moreover, this information can help to support complex decision-making processes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored students' perceptions of quality in higher education in terms of curriculum content, learning and teaching experiences, institutional resources and outcome and assessment, and found that total institutional factors emerged as one of the most prominent predictors of the outcome and assessments within the two different aforementioned disciplines.
Abstract: Article history: Received: November 26, 2017 Received in revised format: March 31, 2018 Accepted: April 4, 2018 Available online: April 5, 2018 Students’ evaluation of quality in higher education is becoming increasingly important and widely accepted. Various researchers have reported that “high quality” education creates sustainability among students to accomplish their goals over a period of time. The intention of the present study was to explore students’ perceptions of quality in higher education in terms of curriculum content, learning and teaching experiences, institutional resources and outcome and assessment. A total of 91 students were randomly selected from the business and engineering colleges within Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to obtain accurate results pertaining to the motif of the research. The findings revealed that total institutional factors emerged as one of the most prominent predictors of the outcome and assessment within the two different aforementioned disciplines. This paper concludes with suggestions for further investigation. © 2018 by the authors; licensee Growing Science, Canada

Abstract: Principles of Marketing takes a practical, managerial approach to marketing. Continuing with tradition, it is rich in topical examples and applications that show the major decisions that marketing managers face in their efforts to balance an organisation’s objectives and resources against needs and opportunities in the global marketplace. The Fourth Edition has changed to reflect marketing’s ever changing challenges. All preview cases, marketing insights and end of chapter cases are revised or completely changed to embrace the growth in e-commerce. In addition, recognising Europe’s internationalism and the growth of globalisation, examples and cases are drawn, not from Europe alone, but from the US, Japan, South-East Asia and Africa. This is suitable for any undergraduate or postgraduate undertaking an introductory course in marketing.
