Abstract
This paper surveys current technology and research in the area of digital color imaging. In order to establish the background and lay down terminology, fundamental concepts of color perception and measurement are first presented us-ing vector-space notation and terminology. Present-day color recording and reproduction systems are reviewed along with the common mathematical models used for representing these devices. Algorithms for processing color images for display and communication are surveyed, and a forecast of research trends is attempted. An extensive bibliography is provided.

Digital enhancement of haematoxylin‐ and eosin‐stained histological images for red–green colour‐blind observers

TL;DR: Two methods to enhance images of H&E‐stained samples so the differently stained tissues can be well discriminated by red–green CBs while remaining usable by people with normal vision are shown.

Influence of chromatic changes on the perception of color image quality

TL;DR: In this article, the quality of a color image was analyzed by using different image descriptors based on the analysis of the color distribution of image elements, and of the spatial distribution of color image elements.

An exploration of visual complexity

TL;DR: It is concluded that the subjective notion of ‘complexity' is consistent both to an individual and to a group, but that it does not easily relate to the most obvious computational metrics.

Magnetically manipulated droplet splitting on a 3D-printed device to carry out a complexometric assay

TL;DR: The combination of low-friction superhydrophobic surfaces and droplets containing superparamagnetic particles is demonstrated to reliably dispense droplets with a precision similar to standard air-displacement pipettes to perform droplet actuation, splitting, and dispensing.

A Segmentation System for Soccer Robot Based on Neural Networks

TL;DR: An innovative technique for segmentation of color images is proposed that implements an approach based on thresholding of the hue histogram and a feed-forward neural network that learns to recognize the hue ranges of meaningful objects.

Some methods for classification and analysis of multivariate observations

TL;DR: The k-means algorithm as mentioned in this paper partitions an N-dimensional population into k sets on the basis of a sample, which is a generalization of the ordinary sample mean, and it is shown to give partitions which are reasonably efficient in the sense of within-class variance.

Least squares quantization in PCM

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived necessary conditions for any finite number of quanta and associated quantization intervals of an optimum finite quantization scheme to achieve minimum average quantization noise power.

An Algorithm for Vector Quantizer Design

TL;DR: An efficient and intuitive algorithm is presented for the design of vector quantizers based either on a known probabilistic model or on a long training sequence of data.

Vector Quantization and Signal Compression

TL;DR: The author explains the design and implementation of the Levinson-Durbin Algorithm, which automates the very labor-intensive and therefore time-heavy and expensive process of designing and implementing a Quantizer.

Lightness and Retinex Theory

TL;DR: The mathematics of a lightness scheme that generates lightness numbers, the biologic correlate of reflectance, independent of the flux from objects is described.
