Abstract
This paper surveys current technology and research in the area of digital color imaging. In order to establish the background and lay down terminology, fundamental concepts of color perception and measurement are first presented us-ing vector-space notation and terminology. Present-day color recording and reproduction systems are reviewed along with the common mathematical models used for representing these devices. Algorithms for processing color images for display and communication are surveyed, and a forecast of research trends is attempted. An extensive bibliography is provided.

Temporal full-colour tuning through non-steady-state upconversion

TL;DR: This work demonstrates a convenient, versatile approach to dynamically fine-tuning emission in the full colour range from a new class of core-shell upconversion nanocrystals by adjusting the pulse width of infrared laser beams and suggests that the unprecedented colour tunability from these nanocry crystals is governed by a non-steady-state upconverting process.

A Survey of Digital Map Processing Techniques

TL;DR: This article presents an overview of existing map processing techniques, bringing together the past and current research efforts in this interdisciplinary field, to characterize the advances that have been made, and to identify future research directions and opportunities.

Adaptive homogeneity-directed demosaicing algorithm

TL;DR: The proposed demosaicing algorithm estimates missing pixels by interpolating in the direction with fewer color artifacts, and the aliasing problem is addressed by applying filterbank techniques to 2-D directional interpolation.

Color image processing pipeline

TL;DR: An overview of the image processing pipeline is presented, first from a signal processing perspective and later from an implementation perspective, along with the tradeoffs involved.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vector filtering for color imaging

TL;DR: The proposed fully automated vector technique can be easily implemented in either hardware or software; and incorporated in any existing microarray image analysis and gene expression tool.

Spectral sharpening: sensor transformations for improved color constancy

TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral sharpening method is proposed to convert a given set of sensor sensitivity functions into a new set that will improve the performance of any color-constancy algorithm that is based on an independent adjustment of the sensor response channels.

Spectral sensitivities of the human cones

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived new sets of cone fundamentals based on tritanopic color-matching data and Stile's pi 3, and showed that they are to be preferred over the CIE 2 degrees CMF's.

Linear models of surface and illuminant spectra

TL;DR: Low-dimensional linear models used for creating efficient spectral representations for color offer some conceptual simplifications for applications such as printer calibration; they also perform substantially better than principal-components approximations for computer-graphics applications.

Optical radiation detectors

TL;DR: In this paper, the capabilities and limitations of optical radiation detectors are discussed, and a background material on radiometry, noise sources and detector physics is introduced, followed by more detailed discussions of photon detectors, thermal detectors, and charge transfer arrays of detectors.
