The Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (or SIFT) algorithm is a highly robust method to extract and consequently match distinctive invariant features from images. These features can then be used to reliably match objects in diering images. The algorithm was rst proposed by Lowe [12] and further developed to increase performance resulting in the classic paper [13] that served as foundation for SIFT which has played an important role in robotic and machine vision in the past decade.read more

Airport Detection Based on a Multiscale Fusion Feature for Optical Remote Sensing Images
TL;DR: A novel method that uses a multiscale fusion feature to represent the complementary information of each region proposal, which is extracted by constructing a GoogleNet with a light feature module model that has an additional light fully connected layer.

Spatially aggregating spectral descriptors for nonrigid 3D shape retrieval: a comparative survey
Chunyuan Li,A. Ben Hamza +1 more
TL;DR: This paper presents a comprehensive review and analysis of recent spectral shape descriptors for nonrigid 3D shape retrieval, and proposes to adopt the isocontours of the second eigenfunction of the LB operator to perform surface partition, which can significantly ameliorate the retrieval performance of the time-scaled local descriptors.

Automated segmentation of iris images acquired in an unconstrained environment using HOG-SVM and GrowCut
TL;DR: A new iris segmentation method is developed and tested on UBIRIS and accurately localizes the iris by a model designed on the basis of the Histograms of Oriented Gradients descriptor and Support Vector Machine (SVM), namely HOG-SVM.

Towards Detection of Morphed Face Images in Electronic Travel Documents
TL;DR: Automated morph detection algorithms based on general purpose pattern recognition algorithms are benchmarked for two scenarios relevant in the context of fraud detection for electronic travel documents, i.e. single image (no-reference) and image pair (differential) morph detection.

Detection of motorcyclists without helmet in videos using convolutional neural network
TL;DR: The proposed framework for automatic detection of motorcyclists driving without helmets in surveillance videos uses adaptive background subtraction on video frames to get moving objects and convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to select motorcyclist among the moving objects.

A Combined Corner and Edge Detector
Chris Harris,Mike Stephens +1 more
TL;DR: The problem the authors are addressing in Alvey Project MMI149 is that of using computer vision to understand the unconstrained 3D world, in which the viewed scenes will in general contain too wide a diversity of objects for topdown recognition techniques to work.

A performance evaluation of local descriptors
TL;DR: It is observed that the ranking of the descriptors is mostly independent of the interest region detector and that the SIFT-based descriptors perform best and Moments and steerable filters show the best performance among the low dimensional descriptors.
