TL;DR: Results indicate that induced suppression of gonadal function in a fashion similar to seasonal regression leading to non-breeding condition is the consequence of specific phase relationship (8 hr) between serotonergic and dopaminergic activities and not due to Serotonin or dopamine alone.

TL;DR: Exposure to short days renders the hypothalamic-hypophyseal neuroendocrine system governing gonadotropin release relatively insensitive to gonadal steroid hormone feedback, but exposure to nonstimulatory photoperiods does not alter the increased hypophyneal LH and FSH content observed after castration.
