Design of corrugated conical horns

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of horn aperture size, slot width-to-pitch ratio and frequency on the cross-polarization of the radiation pattern are considered, as well as the range of slot parameters which can be used and the design of the slots near the throat of the horn to achieve a low VSWR for bandwidths of 1.5 to 1.
Journal ArticleDOI

A deterministic, coherent, and dual-polarized laboratory study of microwave backscattering from water waves, Part I: Short gravity waves without wind

TL;DR: In this article, the fundamental mechanisms of microwave backscattering from mechanically generated short gravity waves with 25-cm wavelength have been investigated in the laboratory using a CW coherent dual-polarized focused radar operating at 9.23 GHz and a laser scanning slope gauge which provides an almost instantaneous profile of the water surface while scattering is taking place.
Journal ArticleDOI

Topology optimization of a photonic crystal waveguide termination to maximize directional emission

TL;DR: In this article, topology optimization based on nonlinear programming techniques and design sensitivity analysis is used to maximize directional emission from a waveguide termination in a two-dimensional square lattice rods-in-air photonic crystal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of Radiation Patterns of Compound Box-Horn Antenna

TL;DR: In this article, a new type of antenna named as compound box-horn antenna is designed and analyzed for its radiation pattern based on plane wave spectra for three-dimensional fields.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design of Broadband Constant-Beamwidth Conical Corrugated-Horn Antennas [Antenna Designer's Notebook]

TL;DR: In this article, a new design procedure is proposed for the design of wideband constant-beamwidth conical corrugated-horn antennas, with minimum design and construction complexity, based on these values, the procedure gives a relatively good design with a relative bandwidth of up to 2.5:1.

Transmission, radiation, and reception of electromagnetic waves

Archie P King
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a system and methods for the transmission of electromagnetic waves through space and more particularly for the launching of hyper-frequency electromagnetic waves into space and for the reception of such waves.

Centimeter wave absorber

TL;DR: In this article, the absorption of ultra high frequency radio energy, and the provision of means for preventing the reflection of radio frequency energy from objects, and for minimizing standing wave effects due to such reflections.

Directional microwave antenna

TL;DR: In this article, the shape of the electric and magnetic plane directive patterns, and particularly the major lobe patterns, of a "point-beam" antenna comprising a paraboloidal antenna was described.

Apparatus for the radiation or reception of electromagnetic waves

TL;DR: In this paper, it is sometimes a requirement to provide a radiating or receiving element of electromagnetic waves which possesses at least in one plane a directivity pattern like that of a dipole element but not...

Directional antenna system

Alfred C Beck
TL;DR: In this paper, a lobe switching radar antennasystem comprising a paraboloidal reflector having: a horizontal axis, and a pair of vertical dielectric guides is described.
