DOKTORI (PhD) ÉRTEKEZÉS

TL;DR: Three novel similarity measures built around dynamic time warping are presented, which enable more precise data mining of time series by incorporating new aspects and provide solutions for time series similarity problems that previously could not be handled with elastic dissimilarity measures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental rebound effect of energy efficiency improvements in Colombian households

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assessed the environmental rebound effect in the household sector from increased shares of wind power into the Colombian power grid, across six environmental impacts and for the period 2020-2030.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trends in passenger transport energy use in South Korea

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the trends of transport activity, energy use, and CO2 emissions from South Korea's transport sector since 1986 with a particular focus on its passenger transport and showed that travel activity has been the major driver of the increase in passenger transport energy use in South Korea, the increase was to some extent offset by the recent favorable structural shift toward bus travel and away from car travel.

The economic and environmental consequences of automobile lifetime extension and fuel economy improvement: Japan's case

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a structural decomposition analysis with cumulative product lifetime distributions to estimate the effects of both product lifetime shifts and energy efficiency changes on the embodied energy consumptions, which revealed that the lifetime extension of existing old vehicles during the study period was more beneficial to the environment than purchasing new passenger vehicles with a relatively high fuel economy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficiency and distributional impacts of tradable white certificates compared to taxes, subsidies and regulations

TL;DR: In this article, a modele d'equilibre partiel is proposed to compare the performance of the dispositifs de certificats blancs (CB) and other instruments de politique publique for energy efficiency.

Economics and consumer behavior

TL;DR: Deaton and Muellbauer as mentioned in this paper introduced generations of students to the economic theory of consumer behaviour and used it in applied econometrics, including consumer index numbers, household characteristics, demand, and household welfare comparisons.

Technology, Prices, and the Derived Demand for Energy

TL;DR: In this article, an industrial demand for energy is essentially a derived demand: the firm's demand for the energy is an input, derived from demand for a firm's output, which is an output.
Journal ArticleDOI

Individual Discount Rates and the Purchase and Utilization of Energy-Using Durables

TL;DR: In this article, a model of individual behavior in the purchase and utilization of energy-using durables is presented, where the tradeoff between capital costs for more energy efficient appliances and operating costs for the appliances is emphasized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Economic Implications of Mandated Efficiency in Standards for Household Appliances

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the indiscriminate use of mandated standards will backfire, but a mix of selective standards and reliance on prices as a restraint can be effective.

Qualitative Choice Analysis: Theory, Econometrics, and an Application to Automobile Demand

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a detailed study of automobile demand and use, presenting forecasts based on the powerful new techniques of qualitative choice analysis and standard regression techniques, which are combined to analyze situations that neither alone can accurately forecast.
